Athleticism is the foundation of the Banks family! And, the San Francisco 49ers‘ guard, Aaron Banks is adamant to take forward his family’s legacy. His parents, Lamont and Teresa Banks have brought him up with a strict athletic routine, and it’s evident from Aaron’s gameplay. From playing football at El Cerrito High School to associating himself with Notre Dame for collegiate sports, his journey to the NFL comes across as no surprise.
Drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2021 draft, Aaron’s selection forced his dad to switch his allegiance from the Raiders to the 49ers. And, as he continues to achieve great heights, his parents enthusiastically support both his on- and off-field journey.

Who are Aaron Banks’s parents Lamont and Teresa Banks?
The poise and bodily control that Aaron Banks possesses is a trait, one can say, that he learned from his parents. His father, Lamont Banks Sr. is a former football player and a contractor. Both Lamont and Aaron’s mom, Teresa taught their kids to be disciplined, by conditioning them athletically.

As per the article published by KNBR, the Sports Reader, in 2021, their nightly sessions included “literally 1,000-2,000 jump ropes and/or a couple hundred free throws.”
Teresa is also a former bodybuilder, so physical fitness has always been a priority for the Banks family. Back in the third grade (he was just 8 years old), Aaron had a huge physique, weighing 188 pounds. A fact recollected by his mother in an interview dated January 2023, where she said, “Aaron was bigger than the coach.”

Now, Aaron has a domineering physique at 6’5″ and weighs 325 pounds, and his mom has always focused on physical health. Emphasizing food and fitness, she remarked in the interview, “We like food. We like the way it tastes. We like to eat. And so it was, ‘OK, you’ve got to stay in shape.’“Indeed, Aaron has carried a similar ethic to this date.
How has Aaron’s family catapulted into his NFL journey?
Aaron did not start with football straightaway. His parents made him work around ropes for footwork before he switched to basketball, and finally football. When he was drafted into the NFL, the family rented a house in Napa to witness the entire event.

While Lamont has since always been a Raiders fan, seeing his son being drafted by the 49ers, he remarked humorously, “Raiders, it was your pick, but I think I gotta put you back in my pocket,” as noted in an interview he gave in June 2021. Lamont further continued, “His life is gonna change, and what a dude that deserves it.”

And, from the early days of college, Lamont has paid keen attention to Aaron’s growth. So, it is his success as much as that of Aaron. He had requested Quenton Nelson from Notre Dame to mentor his son at college, for which, as per the June 2021 interview, he reassured Lamont, saying, “Man, I’m gonna take him, and I’m going to show him as much as I can. And you can best believe—I got him.” That’s where Aaron got the name “Dancing Bear” for his build.
Even though his parents have been strict, they knew the best how to train Aaron and propel him to his dreams. Ahead of his appearance in the 2024 Super Bowl, KTV2 Fox 2 recorded Lamont’s excitement on Feb 9, this year, as he remarked, “I’m bringing binoculars. I make sure I see Aaron, the good plays. This is what’s mandatory.” Aaron is indeed carrying forward his parents’ legacy, and at each step, continues to make them proud.
