While the performance aspect of the Kansas City Chiefs has always been phenomenal, there have been certain issues with their home turf, the Arrowhead Stadium. A while ago, the Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt put out that he wanted to renovate the Chiefs stadium and needed assistance from taxpayers to do so. Unfortunately for Patrick Mahomes and the squad, the motion didn’t yield results.

However, the situation for the Jacksonville Jaguars is the complete opposite of that. Apparently, the Jags are about to spend billions of dollars into making EverBank Stadium a one-of-a-kind facility. NFL Rumors on X spilled the tea about their plans.

The page took to X and shared, “The Jacksonville Jaguars and the City of Jacksonville have agreed on a $1.4 billion renovation plan for EverBank Stadium, aiming to transform it into a state-of-the-art facility. 💰💰💰 According to CBS, the city of Jacksonville and the team will be making joint efforts to see through the renovation.

As reported, both, the city and the team are set to contribute $625 million each towards the renovation of the stadium. But that’s not all, because the Jags also plan to spend an additional $150 million to get the stadium ready for construction in 2026. The good thing about the whole process is that the team will not include any taxes to pay for the rebuild.

The construction is set to begin in 2025 and the Jags games are expected to welcome a lesser number of people till 2026 due to construction. The stadium later is also supposed to be 4 times as wide as the current one.

This Jacksonville update might scratch the wound of Patrick Mahomes’ dream to have the Chiefs’ stadium upgraded to a different level. This is because the city and the lawmakers are not budging from the Chiefs’ demands and Clark Hunt might soon be forced to take the team out of Missouri.

To renovate the Arrowhead, there was an estimate of about $800 million, out of which Clark Hunt was ready to invest $300 million towards it. There was a motion to direct a 3/8 sales tax that would get toward the renovation of the stadium and about 58% of the voters were against it.

The good news is that Jackson County legislator Manuel Abarca is working towards keeping the Chiefs stadium where it is. His actions have drawn some criticism from his peers, but the legislator is keen on working towards his goals.

While the Jacksonville Jaguars work towards a state-of-the-art facility, the Chiefs might be in two minds about their next course of action. Per sources, the Chiefs intend to remain at Arrowhead and Clark Hunt has denied being in talks with Kansas City officials about building a new stadium in the state.
