Week 1 was unfortunate for the Green Bay Packers and their quarterback. Jordan Love, who was coming off a 2023 playoff season and had become one of the highest-paid QBs in the league, suffered an injury in his first game.
Since then, during the last few snaps of the first game and as the starter in Week 2, Malik Willis has taken over. Now, with their Week 3 game approaching on Sunday, September 22, 2024, the Cheeseheads are concerned about the same question–Will Jordan Love return?

In a recent episode of Sunday Night Football on September 19, 2024, NFL insider, Myles Simmons, joined Mike Florio’s show, to discuss when Jordan Love is expected to return. According to Simmons, Love, who is suffering from an MCL sprain, “is getting healthier and that there is the possibility of him being able to get out there and play against the Titans this week.”
In addition to that, giving intricacies about the QB’s current situation, the NFL insider highlighted, “He [Love] was doing things in individual drills….he’s moving around a little bit but that doesn’t mean….that Jordan love is doing everything. So we’ll see if he goes through the week and is able to progress from limited to full. I think if he is a full participant on Friday then that’s really going to be the key indication.”
Hence, that means, if Jordan Love practices fully on Friday, it’s a strong sign he might play. But if he remains limited on Friday, it’s likely that Malik Willis will again start this weekend, as well as the rest of the games, until Love is completely ready to take up the stage.
However, according to another NFL insider, Jordan Love is showing his dedication towards the team and upcoming games. This is evident from the Ian Rapoport’s report, wherein he mentioned that as per some NFL insiders, “If #Packers QB Jordan Love plays, he won’t be 100%. He seems to be OK with that.” So, does that mean Love is playing in the Titans’ game, no matter if he is not completely healthy?

What does coach Matt LaFleur have to say about Jordan Love?
Jordan Love participated in Thursday’s padded practice with the Packers, but was still limited in his activity, just like on Wednesday. So, when the media asked coach Matt LaFleur virtually, about the QB’s chances of getting healthy and playing, the HC decided to keep details minimal. He said, “Limited. That’s all you’re going to get from me. I think every day is a good day for him to get out there and be out there with his teammates….I don’t know. We’ll see. I’m sure he’ll be limited [if he does].”
Hence, while it’s unclear if Love will return to game action soon, LaFleur noted that every day of practice helps. However, according to him, the final decision on his availability will be made 90 minutes before kickoff.
