Philadelphia Eagles football safety Lewis Cine’s life journey is beyond the football world! Despite breaking barriers and challenging stereotypes, he established himself as one of the most successful players in the league. Born in a country in the Caribbean where most of the people live in poverty and where conflict over politics and natural disasters are frequent problems, he overcame the difficulties to build a productive life.
But, before facing hunger and conflicts of African descent, he moved to the US with his parents at just age of four. It was the place where cultural background and ethnicity inspired him to accomplish his athletic goals.

Immigrating from Haiti to Florida, then Everett, Massachusetts, and becoming the first Georgia player drafted by the Vikings in 2022, Cine sure moved around a lot. And this exposure to cultural diversity while growing up surely contributed to his success. After spending 3 seasons with the Vikings, he played for the Bills and now he is serving for the Eagles as a free agent. In his early days, the Haiti native migrated with his family to Florida. Those years were very hectic for Cine and his family. Surprisingly, before moving to Everett, Massachusetts, to live with his father during middle school, Cine had to spend several years commuting between Haiti and Florida. Impressively, his interest in football sparked after setting foot in Everett. And, during his tenure at Everett High School, he became the Defensive Player of the Year. Since then, his athletic career has continued to shine. Later, Cine moved to Cedar Hill in Dallas, Texas, astonishing everyone with his indomitable skills on the field.
In Dallas, Cine also gained national recognition as 247Sports’ No. 3 safety. And this led him to attract a number of Power 5 offers. Interestingly, Lewis’ athletic skills gained attention from many of the renowned colleges as he got scholarship offers from 36 colleges, including Texas A&M, Penn St, Michigan, and Florida. But, he chose Georgia Bulldogs among them.
Impressively, he excelled in collegiate-level football. His contribution to Georgia’s team in the College Football Playoff National Championship in 2021 can not be forgotten. And, garnering the CFP National Championship Game Defensive MVP in 2022 is another career milestone that carved his path to the NFL. And, the Vikings drafted him as the first-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft. Thus, his career trajectory is the rich blend of his multi-cultural heritage and ethnicity.

Born in a Caribbean Country, Haiti, on October 5, 1999, Lewis Cine holds an American nationality. After 4 years of his birth, his mom, Beatrice Seide, and dad brought him up in the American culture for his promising future. Surprisingly, his mother was just 16 when he was born. And, this is the solid reason Lewis Cine wears jersey number 16, representing his affection with his mom.

Even though his mother has never visited the United States, she has been his greatest support system throughout his life. Cine remarked that since his mom had him at an early age, “she struggled early on to raise me. Those times weren’t easy for her. I keep that time she took care of me when it was hard back then, very close to my heart.”
Lewis always had the end goal in mind when making it to the NFL, as it was not simply about entering the league. His ultimate dream was to relocate to America with his mom, and he adds that his dream is different from most kids. He remarks, “One day I am most likely going to be the one to work my b–t off so she can come to America.” And, it is this dream that prompts him to keep pushing himself and actualize his vision for his mom.
