Home/NFL

Washington Commanders backup WR KJ Osborn landed on a team that’s playing in the conference championship, after being with the team that finished last. Do you think he must be happy about that? Maybe, or maybe not, because he’s not getting to play. This season, the 27-year-old had to change teams twice. First, the Vikings dropped him, and then, in the middle of the season, the Patriots said goodbye to him. The Commanders picked him up off waivers, but they haven’t given him a chance on the gridiron yet.

In a league where some players are making big bucks, Osborn is settling for way less. And honestly, what other choice does he have? Sitting at No. 8 on the Commanders’ WR depth chart, he’s probably feeling like he’s stuck waiting forever for his shot. After four years in the NFL, his paycheck numbers are still pretty small.

What are KJ Osborn’s net worth and salary?

Waiting forever for his chance to step on the gridiron, KJ Osborn’s net worth is around $9 million. That’s decent for a WR in the NFL, but it’s not as big as what some of the top WRs make. The last time Osborn played was in Week 17 against the Falcons, and the following week, he found himself on the inactive list. In his race to get back on the field, he’s competing with other WRs, including Terry McLaurin, the Commanders’ WR1, as well as Olamide Zaccheaus and Dyami Brown. Osborn is at the bottom of the list, and the view from there is probably not a ‘good one.’

Is KJ Osborn's NFL journey a tale of missed opportunities or just bad luck?

Have an interesting take?

When Osborn signed with the Patriots back in March, he locked in an average salary of $4 million, plus a $2 million signing bonus. Sure, that’s a decent paycheck, but let’s be real—it’s peanuts compared to what top wide receivers are making. I mean, look at guys like DeAndre Hopkins, Tyreek Hill, and Davante Adams—those numbers don’t even compare. But hey, that’s the NFL for you. If you’re balling out and making plays, they’ll throw big money your way. If you’re not quite there, well, your paycheck tends to follow suit.

What is Osborn’s contract tenure?

KJ Osborn hasn’t had that breakout moment in his four years in the league, and that’s probably why he’s yet to land a big payday or extension. After the Vikings let him go, the Patriots signed him to a solid contract, but now, he’s with the Commanders on a one-year deal. His base salary? Just $262,224, with a potential $160,000 roster bonus. But there’s no promise that Washington will offer him an extension anytime soon. For Osborn, it’s all about proving himself and hoping for a shot at a bigger contract down the line.

Ben Renzin from WME Sports manages Osborn, but the wide receiver might want to have a chat with his agent about his next steps. While Osborn has snagged a few brand deals, he’s still waiting for that big endorsement. With the Commanders’ chances of making it to the conference championship looking slim, his shot at playing in a big game this season isn’t likely. As for what’s next for Osborn, we’ll just have to wait and see how it all unfolds.
