Is Kingsley Suamataia's Samoan heritage the secret weapon for the Chiefs this season?

“I’m not really a big talk guy, but I’ve just shown what I can do on the field,” this is what the Kansas City Chiefs player Kingsley Suamataia said before the NFL Draft. Well, when it comes to the top rookie offensive tackles, he might not be as famous as others in his class. But, he is definitely worth watching!

From a limited game time in Oregon in 2021 to receiving Second Team All-Big 12 honors in 2023, Suamataia proved his grit and determination. But, apart from having an interesting on-field game, has had a life less ordinary. Speaking of the OT, how can we not talk about his background?

Born in Orem, Utah, Kingsley Suamataia called his mother’s hometown, Laie Hawaii, his home while growing up. Eventually, he moved back to Orem and played for the University of Oregon and BYU Cougars during his college football. The tackle spent time living in his mother’s hometown of Laie, Hawaii, before moving back to Utah and studying at Orem High School.

The tackle’s parents, father Leroy Suamataia and mother Tamara Suamataia, are super proud of him. And since his parents are Samoans, Kingsley himself belongs to the same ethnicity. While the Chiefs player is Samoan and spent his early years in Hawaii, what’s his nationality?

While Kingsley Suamataia’s parents hold Samoan roots, he spent most of his life in the United States. On top of that, his parents Leroy and Tamara Suamataia belong to Orem, a city in Utah. Living almost all of their lives in the United States, Kingsley and his family belong to the American nationality.

With the Chiefs rookie giving his best shot to make a name in the NFL world, he remembers where he comes from. “I came from BYU, a little bit of a smaller school, but I’m just showing everyone I’m just as great as all these other guys that are out here,” that is what the tackle says about himself!

Kingsley Suamantia already created his name out of the NFL world during his sophomore year by becoming a team captain and by playing 11 games in 2023 during his collegiate football career. He even racked up 644 offensive snaps. So, we can say the tackle still knows how to keep the ball in his court! But can he help the Chiefs get that unprecedented 3-peat? Only time can tell!
