Delivering consistent on-field performance, Joe Thuney has accumulated a solid net worth of $7 million. And, it is at par with the league’s top guards. As he was drafted by the Patriots in the 2016 NFL Draft, his first five seasons were phenomenal as he started all 80 games. Next, in turn, he was offered a lucrative five-year, $80 million contract with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021. With this, he obtained a guaranteed sum of $46.89 million, along with a $17 million signing bonus, which has contributed significantly to his signing bonus.
On signing Thuney with the Chiefs, HC Andy Reid was appreciative of the new addition. Reid remarked, “Joe is an impressive player. He’s everything you want in an offensive lineman with his toughness and work ethic… I know he’s ready to get to work and we’re happy to have him,” as stated in Chiefs’ article from March 2021. Thuney also reflected on it, as he stated his intentions, “Just want to come in and work hard every day.” And, indeed he has been doing so each day, giving his best for the team.
What is Thuney’s salary?
In 2024, Joe Thuney’s total earnings amounted to $16 million, making him one of the highest-paid offensive guards. It includes a base salary of $15.5 million, a $10.97 million signing bonus, along with $2 million in roster bonuses. Together, it helped him boost his earnings last year. Chiefs have also restructured Thuney’s contract several times, changing the terms of his salary cap. In 2023, the conversion of his salary of $13.05 million into a signing bonus created $8.7 million in cap space. It also happened previously in 2022, allowing them to save an additional $9.64 million.
With these adjustments, one can say that Thuney is willing to think of the team before his gains, making him a true team player considering himself ‘fortunate‘ to be a part of it.
