With Super Bowl LIX just around the corner, all eyes are on Jawaan Taylor, the Kansas City Chiefs‘ powerhouse offensive tackle. This season, he’s been a rock star on the field, playing in all 17 games and earning a solid pass-blocking grade of 70.8. That puts him right up there with the best in the league!

With over 4,300 career snaps under his belt, Taylor has shown he can handle whatever comes his way—protecting quarterbacks and paving the way for big runs, even if he’s had a few hiccups with penalties along the journey. But it’s not just about football for Taylor; he’s also known for his strong religious faith, which he says keeps him grounded.

What is Jawaan Taylor’s religion?

Fans love that he’s not just an athlete but someone who stands by his beliefs while navigating the pressures of the NFL. On February 9, he shared on the FISLL Instagram page that faith plays a huge role in his life, saying, “I’m very big in my faith, I pray daily and I feel like, you know, when you stand firm in your faith anything is possible.” This isn’t new for Taylor—back in 2019, he tweeted about how the House of God Church shaped him into the man he is today. He even encouraged fans to buy Jaguars tickets with proceeds going to the church’s Youth Wellness Department, all while rocking shoes with “2 Timothy 1:7” on them!

Where is the team’s standout defensive tackle from?

Jawaan Taylor hails from Cocoa, Florida, and is deeply rooted in his faith. Growing up in a religious household, his father, Robert Taylor, served as an assistant pastor and worked for UPS for over 30 years before sadly passing away from COVID-19 in January 2022. His funeral drew over a thousand attendees, a testament to his impact on the community. Taylor has often spoken about the importance of faith in his life, sharing with the ministry that streamed interviews of him and other Kansas City Chiefs players like Patrick Mahomes and Noah Gray to over a million inmates, “[God has] always been the answer. Anybody who believes, man, you know, you can’t make it without Him.”

As Taylor prepares for Super Bowl LIX, his heart is heavy with the recent loss of his grandmother just days before the big game. “My grandmother passed away about three or four days ago, so I’m dedicating this game to her,” he said. Reflecting on his journey, he added, “My father passed away two years ago. Those guys — my grandma and my dad — they are a very big reason why I’m here and a very big reason why I made it to this point.” With his faith guiding him through both triumphs and tribulations, Taylor embodies resilience and dedication as he takes the field.
