Does C.J. Stroud's faith make him a better leader on the field for the Texans?

Football is not CJ Stroud’s only priority. As he battles numerous worthy opponents on the gridiron, his faith keeps him grounded. This is what keeps the Houston Texans quarterback going through the ups and downs of a hectic life and an even more hectic NFL Schedule. His faith in God is a key factor in shaping his personality and he is proud of it.

Stroud peaked a lot of interest since his NFL debut in the 2023 season and even took his team to a playoff game under a rookie head coach. His sportsmanship, ingenuity and personality has prompted us to take a deeper look into CJ Stroud’s personal life.

The Houston Texans quarterback was born on October 3, 2001 to Kimberly and Coleridge Stroud in Rancho Cucamonga, California. Hence, he’s an American National of African-American descent. Stroud grew around a religions household and his parents didn’t shy away from imbibing humanitarian values in their son before he even picked up a football.

CJ Stroud is a Christian. But the quarterback’s trust in the divine started way back when he was a child. His parents, Kimberly and Coleridge influenced his faith from early on and as children, the Stroud kids were regular churchgoers.

Not only did CJ’s father, a former pastor, influence his faith in God, but he also introduced football into his life. His father instilled a great moral compass in Stroud, making it a point to “do the right thing.” “I think I thrive now at this age, just understanding that doing the right thing is the right way and letting God lead your life is the best way. That’s what I learned from my father,” the quarterback told The Columbus Dispatch.

But that’s not all. His parents also helped him set up the Life Applications Christian Center in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. His father, who served as a pastor in the church often invited his quarterback son to be involved in sermons as well. In late November 2022, Stroud’s mother revealed more about his childhood.

“C.J. and Ciara, my younger two, that’s all they knew was church. We went to church several times a week,” Kimberly said. “We dedicated a lot of our time to volunteering in our neighborhood, in our community. So, my children spent a lot of time being selfless and knowing there’s a lot, there’s a big world out there, and you’re not the whole world.”

Speaking about helping the community, there have been instances where CJ Stroud has put everything aside to help the people in need.

It stands true to this day. A couple of months ago, deadly storms took over the Houston area and there were a lot of problems. While some lost their lives, others found themselves at the mercy of nature with their homes gone, power outages, and lack of basic amenities overshadowed their day-to-day lives.

Stroud went around the Houston area and helped people by cutting down trees, cleaning, and even playing ball with the neighborhood kids. But while Stroud was doing his best to help the community, there was another problem at hand. The strong winds disrupted the power grids. It became hot and people were left without air conditioning.

Stroud reportedly helped the people with supplies to make their day a bit easier to handle. His resilience and kind nature are a testament to his faith. “I’ve been through a lot,” Stroud said. “Not only in football but things that made me kind of chill when everything is going crazy. And I thank God for putting that [in] me because that’s something that you need playing in this position in this league.”
