What is Chris Jones’s religion?
“Whoever finds God finds life!!!” Chris Jones posted this tweet in September 2017. This post clearly states the defensive tackle’s faith in God. The 6-foot-6, 310-pound KC beast is a devout Christian and has remained very close to his religion since his childhood days. In an interview in 2021, Jones revealed that right behind his grandma’s house “probably 200 feet, is a church that everyone in my small town, everyone in my neighborhood, goes to. I was raised in a church. My grandfather used to play guitar. My grandmother has a singing group, so it was a natural thing for us to go to church every Sunday.”

Not only that! Besides going to church and following his religion deeply, Chris Jones also wears a couple of wrist bracelets, in remembrance of God. One of them features “I am Second.” To those who are unaware, you can also see this phrase on the bio of his X profile. In addition, the other bracelet has “I play for Him” written on it. It’s obvious that these phrases refer to his faith and connection with God. And guess what? He has been wearing these since he entered the league in 2016.
Explaining the meanings of these wristbands to his fans in a 2020 interview with Sports Spectrum, Chris Jones said, “It’s a Christian wristband. I am second, God is first. And I also have a wristband [that says] ‘I play for Him.’ I play for God, Jesus Christ. I’m a very religious guy. I believe my faith is everything and that’s what I live by.” No doubt, Jesus has helped him a lot in his football phase. From dealing with injuries to signing massive contracts, Jones has reached quite far in the NFL.

As a child, he grew up in his grandmother’s two-bedroom house with his mom and two siblings. It was hard to live together in a small house with a dozen people. He once slept on the living room couch, with his feet hung over the armrest. In addition, due to his father’s alcoholic life, his mother had to work 12-hour shifts as a nurse.
Despite all these struggles, Jones remained committed to his dreams, culture, values, and faith. The result? He has now made his name as a remarkable player in the league who is one of the leaders in a team on the brink of achieving a historical 3-peat.
