Does Bryce Young's Christian faith give him an edge on the field? What do you think?

Bryce Young, the 2023 NFL draft quarterback for the Carolina Panthers was the No. 1 overall pick in his draft year. In his rookie year, he got a passer rating of 73.7 after scoring 2877 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in 16 games. However, his college football career was as exciting as his rookie year. He was ranked the nation’s #1 quarterback after 13,520 yards and 152 touchdowns. And won the 2021 NCAA football season’s Heisman Trophy

A lot of Bryce Young’s success should be credited to the support he received from his parents over the years. His mom has always been supportive of him. He must have gotten his skills from his father, Craig Young, who used to be a quarterback in high school and college but took a different career path as a therapist. But there’s a lot more you should know to understand how he achieved all of this.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 25, 2001, Young always had a liking for football. Although both his parents are of African American descent. They shifted to California when he was still very young. And invested their time and efforts towards Young’s football career. They got him a quarterback coach when he was only 5, so that he could get proper training to become a pro football player.

And he always thanks his mom for this. “My mom, for always having my back, for always supporting me. It’s not always easy. I’m always running around. Not all the time, do you understand, but you always had my back, you always supported me and for that I’m forever grateful.” Not only that, he also thanks his family for showing the faith in him.

Just like his parents, Bryce Young also believes in god. In an interview with Sports Spectrum, Young mentioned “I’m based in faith.” And after being drafted, he said he is blessed to have a family that introduced him to faith when he was young. “It’s surreal. It’s a dream come true. I’m blessed. I want to thank God for allowing me to be here.” The QB was very excited to be part of the Panthers and was excited to be on the field and work with the team.

Just like his statements, the quarterback’s social media also represents his belief in god as a top priority in his life. After winning the Heisman Trophy in 2021, the QB tweeted. “God is great!” he wrote as a caption to his pictures with his parents and the trophy. He further emphasized he was truly grateful for everyone who made this possible and it is all the glory of god.

His faith has always made his parents proud. However, now it is time to prove himself to his team. And he always has his parents’ blessings and god’s support with him.
