Is Deshaun Watson's inconsistency becoming a liability for the Browns? What do you think?

The Cleveland Brown’s season opener against the Dallas Cowboys is off to a horror start. After Deshaun Watson’s error, which proved costly for the Browns, his team suffered major setbacks that could potentially derail their season ambitions. During the fourth quarter of the game, the Browns saw one of their reserved players get injured, with early signs suggesting a lengthy time on the sidelines.

LB Tony Fields found himself injured on 1st and 10 down with more than 10 minutes remaining on the clock. This came after he tried a tackle on Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliot, thereby getting himself ruled out with an ankle injury. However, his injury wasn’t the only one that the Browns suffered on their first game of the regular season.

Fields fellow LB Mohamoud Diabate also left the game early after getting his hip injured early on. Therefore, it would be a real test for the Browns’ depth chart going into their second game of the season. As the saying goes, when it rains, it pours; Browns might have seen it all in the first game itself.

TE David Njoku was added to the list of injuries, with a return date looking questionable as things stand. But among all those who got injured, Fields’ absence could hurt the Browns most based on the season he had last year. With 234 defensive snaps alongside 341 special teams snaps under his belt, Fields has plenty to prove as he tries to navigate around his early season setback.

Browns outclassed by Cowboys in regular season opener on Sunday

During the opening minutes of the first quarter, things looked promising for the Browns as they raced into a 3-0 lead. However, from then on, everything started to crumble at Huntington Bank Field. As Sunday turned into a nightmare for the Browns as they watched their team get outclassed at every corner, with players going down like feathers.

Have an interesting take?

The America’s Team gave them a beating that would probably haunt them throughout the season. Among all those who had a day to forget, QB Deshaun Watson was the standout as the $230 million player racked up 24-of-45 passes while recording 169 passing yards. He even found two of his passes getting intercepted while finishing the day with a 51.1 passer rating.

However, Watson wasn’t the only one who had difficulties against the Cowboys. As Elijah Moore, Amari Cooper, and David Njoku all dropped catches under head coach Kevin Stefanski and new OC Ken Dorsey. But the big question is, can the Browns regain their confidence after suffering a huge setback on the first day of the 2024 NFL season?
