Can the Chiefs overcome their kicker woes, or will this be their Achilles' heel this season?

Looks like the Chiefs can’t catch a break. Though they got back on the victory path in week 12 by winning the game 30-27 against the Panthers, things keep getting tough. After Harrison Butker was injured, they brought in Spencer Shrader from the Jets. Now, there is some sad update from his end.

The kicker might not play the week 13 game against the Raiders as he injured his hamstring. This update was confirmed when Shrader liked a comment on one of his Instagram posts. Rumors claim that the team will bring in Matthew Wright to cover for him. The player is hoping to get back to full fitness soon.

The coach Andy Reid has already decided on the replacement. However, this type of change impacts the locker room dynamics. The Chiefs have stayed strong this season, but the absence of key players has hurt them. Be it Isiah Pacheco or Rashee Rice, their O-line has been weakened. Say what? Another Chiefs player got injured during the practice ahead of the week 13 game.

Apart from Spencer Shrader, Peyton Hendershot was also injured

Not only the active players but now their backup players are also getting injured. During practice on November 25, the tight end Peyton Hendershot got injured. He had injured his calf during the Panthers matchup, but had returned to the game and even played. HC Andy Reid had also said that no one was injured in the game. But things have changed now.

While Spencer Shrader is expected to miss only one game against the Raiders, Hendershot might miss the remaining season as he would be placed on the Injured Reserve (IR) list. The Chiefs are set to qualify for the playoffs. They are in the 1st position in the AFC West. But the challenge remains.

Their O-line has a lot more room for improvement. Veterans like Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes are trying to find the perfect combination. It’s a matter of a few more weeks. And they will be playing in the decisive game. What will be the lineup in the game against the Raiders? We’ll find out soon.
