Football is all about the highs and lows, joy and worry—all packed into a handful of hours on a Sunday. For Miami Dolphins fans, that rollercoaster hit a peak (or maybe a dip) during their Week 12 game against the Raiders. And when star RB Raheem Mostert limped off the field? The tension freaking skyrocketed! Did they lose their go-to guy at a critical moment in the season?

Amid all the chaos, Al Butler tweeted about Mostert heading to the locker room, and the panic started to settle in. I mean, you could feel the collective gulp from Dolphins’ fans everywhere. Mostert made a carry, but it went for zero yards. That’s right, a total dud. So, when he disappeared from the field, people feared the worst. Thankfully, the panic was short-lived because he returned, and suddenly, the air felt a bit lighter in Miami. This guy is key for the Dolphins, especially when trying to pull off a solid finish in the season.

Mostert’s injury scare wasn’t the only thing that had fans biting their nails. He hasn’t been lighting up the field recently. Was it in the previous game against the Los Angeles Rams? No rushing attempts, only a couple of catches for 34 yards. Not exactly impressive. It’s no wonder the coaching staff was sweating over whether they could rely on him moving forward. Head coach Mike McDaniel was frustrated, as Mostert’s fumbles were becoming a problem. Missing the guy who can break through defenses would have hurt Miami’s chances big time, especially since they’re hovering near the bottom of the standings.

Let’s not forget! Though Mostert has had some rough patches lately, he is still a badass RB. He’s been an integral part of the Dolphins since he joined. Like running for over 3,500 yards and scoring 25+ touchdowns! Flashback to his breakout with the San Francisco 49ers in 2019. The dude had a 220-yard game in the NFC Championship. Huge. So, he’s got that spark when he’s healthy. Seeing him take the field again against the Raiders gave Miami a chance to regain some momentum.

Raheem Mostert’s season and career prospects

Looking at the bigger picture, this season isn’t shaping up to be a walk in the park for Mostert. Sure, he’s proved himself in the league, but recent performances? They have been lackluster. Sitting at a 3-6 record, the Dolphins can’t afford to waste any opportunities. Mostert’s health and ability to contribute are as important as ever.

What’s your perspective on:

Can the Dolphins maintain their momentum without Mostert, or is their season in jeopardy?

Have an interesting take?

His career journey is pretty wild, too. Starting as an undrafted free agent in 2015, Mostert bounced around before landing with the 49ers. And after a breakout season? Dude made his way to the Dolphins in 2022. Now Miami needs him to channel that explosive talent again. They really should be tapping into his versatility as a runner and receiver to maximize their offense. Every bit counts when you’re scraping for wins late in the season.

Let’s face it! The Dolphins aren’t in a great spot. And they need something—anything—positive to latch onto! Raheem Mostert’s ability to create plays can either make or break their push for a playoff spot. His hiccup with the hip injury could have set off major alarms, but thankfully, all signs point to him being alright for now. If he can stay healthy and tackle the field with confidence, Miami might just turn around this rocky season.
