Can the Chargers survive without Joey Bosa, or is their season already doomed?

The season is getting intense. We expected a tough SNF game between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Boy, oh boy! It’s a nail-biting encounter. And players are all-in for the win. However, it didn’t end well for everyone. This time, Chargers LB Joey Bosa has been at the receiving end. Cracks have appeared in the Chargers’ defense.

In the first defensive play for the Chargers, the LB rushed the rival QB Justin Fields. But he might have got rolled over. And now, the trainers have taken him to the sidelines. Bosa was seen limping and might have been ruled out for the game because of an apparent injury. The Chargers team is checking up on him.

At the sidelines, trainers were seen working on his upper left leg. Bad News! He is now ruled out of the game with a hip injury. Yet he is staying on the sidelines and encouraging his teammates to go for the win. Chargers have replaced him with Tuli Tuipulotu who has made 2 tackles in the game (till 1st quarter).

The LB complained of hip tightness after the first game and missed the 2nd game. Later, he was put on an injured report because of a back injury. Before the game, he said, “If everything goes well this week in practice, I plan to have a very long and intense game.” But the game has not turned out the way he expected.

It’s not a new thing. The LB has been struggling with injuries for the last 2 years.

Joey Bosa’s injury-ridden career

Have an interesting take?

Here’s an interesting fact. The LB has only played 14 games (total) in 2022 and 2023. He has only started in 9 out of those with 30 tackles (22 solo) and 9 sacks. He has lost considerable games because of injuries.

In 2022, he injured his groin in week 3 games against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Later, he underwent surgery in which the core muscle area of his groin was repaired. Joey Bosa missed more than 10 games because of that before returning in week 17. In 2023, he sprained his foot in the week 11 game against the Green Bay Packers and was ruled out of the season.

Injury-related concerns persisted this preseason as well. The DE underwent surgery to treat his left hand, which he injured during a joint practice with the Rams. Because of this, he missed many practice sessions. Bosa just got fit back in time to play in the starting season.
