The Texans’ O-line woes are nothing new. The Notre Dame sixth-round draft Patterson initially got the starting nod due to a preseason hamstring injury to fellow rookie Juice Scruggs. The O-line depth was already razor-thin after Scruggs. Patterson didn’t miss a beat, though. He started all seven games this season until Sunday’s matchup against the Colts.
The 25-year-old’s exit has shaken things up BIG TIME for Houston. Initially, Patterson began the game on the bench but entered at left guard in the first half, where he took the place of the struggling Kenyon Green. However, with Patterson’s injury coming forth, Green has managed to enter the contest again.
There’s some hope, though. Juice Scruggs could return if his practice window opens this week. “We’ll see who goes out there,” alluded HC DeMeco Ryans, eyeing a crucial Week 9 matchup. The Texans need stability—and fast.

Scott Quessenberry and Juice Scruggs. “Jarrett has been a staple for us,” said the head coach, expressing confidence in Patterson’s eventual return. “Hopefully we can get him back… Very pleased with what he was able to do stepping in. Smart player, tough player, played well for us. We’ll be doing some more shuffling around there.”
With the potential for a late-season comeback, Patterson’s resilience remained a key talking point for the Texans’ coaching staff.
