Can the 49ers maintain their momentum without Jake Moody, or is this a major setback?

The 49ers vs. Cardinals game zipped by until halftime, but it wasn’t without a hitch. Fans at Levi’s Stadium watched in shock as kicker Jake Moody was carted off. The injury is still under evaluation, but let’s be real—Jake’s return isn’t looking too promising. Uh-oh!

And the return wasn’t on the cards. It’s already a tough break for Jake after he twisted his right ankle while trying to make a tackle. And now, Nick Wagoner of ESPN reported that Jake was ruled out for the rest of the game! Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.

Backup kicker? Well, teams don’t usually carry one, but Kyle Juszczyk was spotted warming up on the sidelines, ready to step in if needed. You gotta give credit to the guy—he’s the fullback, yet here he is, gearing up for kicking duties! One for the team, eh?

But he wasn’t required as punter Mitch Wishnowsky took over the kicking duties. And he came in just in time to nail a field goal just before halftime. Not exactly your typical FG hero, but hey, in football, expect the unexpected, right?

But it wasn’t just Jake Moody that took the fall for the Niners against the Cardinals. There were some other injury concerns as well.

Jake Moody adds to San Francisco’s injury woes!

Can the 49ers maintain their momentum without Jake Moody, or is this a major setback?

Have an interesting take?

The Niners just couldn’t catch a break in their Week 5 showdown against the Cardinals. As if Jake’s injury in itself wasn’t bad enough, it added to the ever-growing injury list. And trust us, some big names are on there. Christian McCaffrey? Yup, sidelined with Achilles tendinitis. There’s some hope he could return soon, but that’s still up in the air.

Oh, and don’t forget linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, wideouts Chris Conley and Jacob Cowing, all dealing with their own injury setbacks. Plus, defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos hit the IR with a knee injury just before this game.

Let’s talk about the in-game injuries, shall we? Alas, Jake Moody wasn’t the only one to go down. Talanoa Hufanga left the game with a wrist injury, and Ji’Ayir Brown was questionable with an ankle tweak right before halftime.

The 49ers’ sideline was starting to look like a full-on injury ward. So, where do the Niners go from here? The coming weeks could prove to be a huge test for them.
