It’s been quite a season in the NFL! We pretty much have our playoff contenders lined up from both the AFC and NFC. From the AFC, teams like the Chiefs, Steelers, and Bills seem set. Over in the NFC, there are the Lions, Eagles, and Seahawks. Or wait, have the Seahawks locked in their spot yet? With DK Metcalf’s latest injury, troubles keep brewing for the Seahawks’ defense.
The Seattle Seahawks were fighting for their playoff dreams against the already-eliminated New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. Huge trouble surfaced on the team’s defensive side as a key player was injured. During the third quarter of the game, the Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf walked off the field with trainers stepping in to help him as he headed to the medical tent. There is no official word on it, but if he suffers a serious injury, it’s going to have a huge impact on the Seahawks’ defense. “Status alert: DK Metcalf (leg) helped off-field Sunday.”

Metcalf took a hit from his quarterback, Geno Smith while trying for a 28-yard gain during the game. The incident had netizens concerned, with many rushing to X to discuss it. “If he’s out. Seattle is about to rudely find out how truly valuable this man is to the Seahawks”, commented one. However, the Seahawks came out strong.
Until the fourth quarter, the Aaron Rodgers-led Jets held a narrow two-point lead. But the Seahawks weren’t about to let the Jets break their losing streak. The Seahawks finished the game with a five-point win (21-26), turning everything around in the last 15 minutes. A third straight win for the Seahawks and a third straight loss for the Jets. The Seahawks are now 7-5 after their latest win, one point ahead of their divisional rivals, the Cardinals.
This win is going to be important for Metcalf’s squad as they get closer to the playoffs. But it’s going to be a real problem if the WR suffers another serious injury at this point.
Can DK Metcalf continue playing?

The question itself is a nightmare for the Seahawks and their fans. Metcalf was already on the injury (shoulder) list before Week 13. Although he did practice and play, if this injury sidelines him, the defense will crumble. With an average of 77.4 receiving yards per game, he’s been a strong player for the team.
The team’s already dealing with multiple injuries, with another WR Tyler Lockett out due to a knee issue and DE Leonard Williams fighting through a foot injury. And at the point where the league stands today, you cannot afford to have your major players sidelined. Either you bring in a replacement as strong as them, or you’re losing in this league. The Seahawks fans are hoping Metcalf will be okay so he can keep helping the team win. But we’ll have to wait for an official update on the WR.
For now, the team has kicked off the Christmas season with a win. The Jets, led by Rodgers, lost despite the QB scoring two TDs. It’s been a hard season for them. The Seahawks will next face their divisional foes, the Cardinals. Hopefully, Metcalf will be fit by then.
