How crucial is DeVonta Smith to the Eagles' playoff hopes after his recent concussion scare?

It’s never a complete NFL game without a proper injury scare. Philadelphia Eagles would now have to look out for their wide receiver DeVonta Smith, who could be out due to serious concerns about his physical health.

While covering the yards for the Birds, Smith got caught by one of New Orleans’ defenders. However, an unnecessary hit came from the side by another defensive tackle, which ensured a hit to his neck and knocked his helmet off his head. Smith then fell hard on the ground.

Injury analyst Jeff Mueller took to X stating his concern for how it could be a “concussion and neck injury“. If it’s a concussion, Smith may have to skip the next game for safety purposes.

In addition to the infamous concussion, if there is acute neck pain, fans may have to forget about seeing him for at least 3 weeks.

The injury happened before the Eagles scored their first touchdown of the game. The young wide receiver was about to fall before he met with a strong impact at the hands of Jersey 97, Khristian Boyd.

The defensive tackle probably did not have malicious intent behind the unnecessary tackle, but it still ended up injuring Smith. From an analytical perspective, there wasn’t any need to rush into him like he did. Now, we would have to wait before we get to know how long he will be out of the gridiron.

The game against the Saints seemed out of hand in the first half. Despite covering more yards than their opponents, Philadelphia was lagging behind on the scoreboard. Especially after their WR on the field got hit and sidelined, some fans may have been tempted to give up on the game. This is when the bird gods made a miraculous change to the game and quickly turned the score upside down. Although New Orleans still tried their best to get ahead, their efforts seemed to be in vain because they couldn’t kill the spirits that DeVonta Smith’s team carried.

Now, the Eagles will have to face Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the coming week and we dare say that it appears to be the perfect matchup. On the 29th of September, both teams carrying the 2-1 record with pride, will clash. Who would come out on top is yet to be decided. However, seeing how well the Eagles played this time around, you wouldn’t be wrong to put your faith in them. Perhaps they do deserve another win, but the same can be said about the Buccaneers.

Who would you rather support? Moreover, would you like to see DeVonta Smith back by then?
