With Leal out, can the Steelers' defense still hold strong, or is this season a lost cause?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have suffered a significant setback in the midst of the season. The team’s injury woes have persisted, with another huge blow just dealt to them. Here we’re talking about DeMarvin Leal, the defensive end who injured his neck. But, what actually is his current situation? Is Leal returning or not? Let’s have a look at the recent update on the DE.

For those who are unaware, this injury occurred during the Steelers’ Week 5 game against the Cowboys. DeMarvin Leal was a substitute for Alex Highsmith, who hurt his groin earlier this month. And now Leal is out of the game as well, but the unfortunate aspect is that he is out for the entire season rather than just a few weeks or months. Yes, you heard it correctly. Recent sources have confirmed that the linebacker will not be able to return to the gridiron this season at all.

Following this, the Steelers can attempt to trade for a solid defensive end, something the team urgently needs. In addition to DeMarvin Leal, there are 11 other players on the injured reserve list right now. This list includes significant names like OG James Daniels, P Cameron Johnston, and first-round rookie choice OT Troy Fuatanu.

Without a DE like DeMarvin Leal, the Steelers would struggle to make a comeback

It is widely acknowledged that the Steelers lost a lot of momentum following week three. They have dropped two consecutive games and may aim to make a turnaround in their upcoming encounter. It will be extremely tough for them because the squad now has a large number of key players who are out owing to an injury.

Have an interesting take?

The Steelers will face the Las Vegas Raiders, who have been competent as well as dangerous this season. If we look at the overall record, the Raiders actually have an advantage. The two teams have met 32 times, with the Raiders winning 17 of them and the Steelers winning 15. It will be difficult for Mike Tomlin to strategize some new things. Only time will tell what the HC is up to and what more can he make his team to do.

What are your opinions about all of these injuries? Do you believe the Steelers can make a comeback with this news?
