Can the Cowboys' defense survive without DeMarcus Lawrence, or is this the beginning of their downfall?

The Week 4 game was on for the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants on Thursday. However, for Dallas, this evening seemed to be tough in terms of injuries. On one hand, it was Micah Parsons who complained of an ankle injury, and was carted off the field. And on the other hand, is DeMarcus Lawrence from America’s team.

In Thursday’s game, DeMarcus Lawrence had to limp off the field in the third quarter, and his injury looked a bit serious. According to NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo, “#Cowboys medical and athletic training staff had DeMarcus Lawrence’s shoe off to examine him.” He was then taken to the locker room, and “headed to the tunnel near the X-ray room.” So, what exactly has happened to him?

As per the latest updates, Lawrence got an injury on the foot. And, via reporter Patrik Walker, “DeMarcus Lawrence (foot) is questionable to return.” Hence, he didn’t return to the game. And meanwhile, fans were just praying for him that his injury wasn’t serious and hoped for his speedy recovery.

So, when the media talked to DeMarcus Lawrence post-game, the athlete revealed that “he is in pain, but he’s going to be fine.” Well, this gave a huge sigh of relief to the Cowboys and their fans, as “its positive news for a defensive unit that can ill-afford to suffer any more losses.

When Lawrence was injured, by that time the Cowboys were ahead of the Giants with 17-12 in the third quarter. And before exiting, DeMarcus Lawrence “played more than 50 percent of the defensive snaps in each of Dallas’ first three games, recording 12 tackles, including 2.0 sacks, and a forced fumble.” Besides him, another star defensive player of the team was taken off the field.

What’s the injury update of Micah Parsons?

During the game in the fourth quarter, Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons hurt his left ankle. He was carted off the field, and was also taken to X-ray room for further evaluation. While speaking to the media post game, Parsons revealed that the reports were negative, and he just “iced it.” In addition to that, Parsons further mentioned that he will be “going to try to get back next week.” Some outlets also reported that Parsons was limping in the locker room, and that he told the quarterback that he will “be good.”

During the game, Parsons was “blocked low by guard Greg Van Roten and high by center John Michael Schmitz Jr.” Revisiting the highlights, it seems Roten “appeared to come down on the back of Parsons’ foot,” injuring his ankle. Now, he and DeMarcus Lawrence will be undergoing an MRI this Friday.

Fans are hopeful that these two players return next week healthy.
