Who was Chris Myers’ son?

Let’s talk about Christopher Myers – “Dakota” to those who knew him best. The eldest son of Chris and Susan Myers and brother to Alex, Dakota used to live with his parents at home. Likewise, to his father, Junior Chris was also a sports fan and followed the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL. Well, his demeanor isn’t limited to sports alone. Besides sports, Dakota also spent a major part of his life in the theatre department while at high school.

For the last three years of his time at Moorpark Junior College, he volunteered with L.I.F.E. Animal Rescue in Agoura Hills. He provided services for dogs and often went on walks with them. Christopher had an incredibly warm heart and kind spirit,” Myers’ family friend, Beth Pattee, said. “He was precious and funny. He loved people and loved his sports.”

What happened to Chris Myers’ son?

Here’s where the story takes a heartbreaking turn for the Myers household. A sports enthusiast, caring for animals, and interested in theatre, Christopher Myers was eyeing a four-year college program and surely a bright future awaited him. However, on February 16, 2o12, Chris’ car went off Kanan Road, just south of Latigo Canyon, and ended up crashing into a ravine about 100 feet down.

The accident was later followed by a fire, and the burnt car was later found near a trail. Chris was the only person found in the car at the time of the fatal accident. The accident not only took Dakota’s life but also shook the Myers family to its core. Dakota was 19 years old when the tragedy struck the Myers family.

“Our family is truly grateful for the outpouring of love for Christopher, from our neighborhood to across the country. We will do our best to carry his spirit forward,” Chris and Susan Myers stated in a statement after the accident. Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports and a friend to Myers, supported him during his tough times. Hendrick shared a similar pain as his son, Ricky died in a plane crash in 2004.

“It’s good to be around people who understand what you’re going through,” Myers said. “Sometimes you need the space. Sometimes you need the company. And sometimes you don’t even know.” It’s been over a decade since this setback to Chris Myers and his family. While the family and Chris continue to move on, they are also keeping Dakota’s memory alive.
