As the Washington Commanders gear up to face the New York Giants in Week 9, all eyes are on running back Brian Robinson Jr., who’s been listed as questionable due to a hamstring issue. Earlier despite the injury designation, Robinson was expected to suit up, which felt like great news for Washington, but things aren’t the way they thought.
Per sources, the RB will miss today’s game against the Giants, as he’s out with a hamstring injury. Despite hopes he’d suit up, he “just wasn’t 100%,” a source confirmed. Robinson’s absence comes after pregame workouts revealed that his hamstring “didn’t feel right,” dashing any last-minute plans for him to play. The Commanders will now turn to other backs to fill the void, including Austin Ekeler, Jeremy McNichols, and Chris Rodriguez.

Robinson has been a force for the Commanders’ offense, especially in the red zone, where he’s handled the majority of goal-line work. In Week 2, he dominated the Giants with a standout performance, rushing for 133 yards on 17 carries. With New York allowing the most yards per carry (5.4) in the league, Robinson seems poised for another big game.

Despite being hampered by both knee and hamstring issues this season, Robinson has been Washington’s workhorse, averaging 4.6 yards per carry. If he’s as effective as he was in their first matchup, the Commanders could be in for a big day on the ground.
Brian Robinson Jr.’s Injury Woes
Washington Commanders’ running back Brian Robinson Jr. was in the middle of a breakout season before a knee injury put the brakes on his momentum. Robinson was leading the team with 325 rushing yards, a solid 4.5 yards per attempt, and five touchdowns. Unfortunately, he went down just before the Week 6 game against the Baltimore Ravens, which led to Washington’s lowest rushing total of the season without him. In a tight game like that, Robinson’s absence was felt, especially near the goal line where his physicality often makes the difference.

What’s your perspective on:
Can the Commanders survive without Brian Robinson Jr., or is their season already in jeopardy?
Have an interesting take?
The knee issue first raised eyebrows when Robinson missed practices leading up to Week 6. “It helped tremendously,” Robinson said, referring to coaches holding him out to ensure long-term recovery. Head coach Dan Quinn added, “Sometimes his two-yard run is as good as the 22-yard run,” underscoring how Robinson’s bruising style sets the Commanders’ tone on offense.
Whether Robinson takes the field in the coming matchups will depend on his final health evaluation, but the Commanders could certainly use his playmaking ability. If he’s back, Robinson could bring the spark Washington’s offense has been missing.
