Is Dak Prescott losing his touch, or is CeeDee Lamb just too demanding on the field?

“Our relationship, if anything, has gotten stronger. Don’t let what’s out there fool you,” Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb had said barely two weeks ago after cameras caught him in a heated exchange with the team’s quarterback, Dak Prescott. Yet, the world has once again become privy to a similar moment—this time, Prescott talking and Lamb listening.

In an attempt to enhance their standings, the Dallas Cowboys paid a visit to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the situation quickly spiraled out of control. A lot of Cowboys were injured before the game and Dallas stacked up some more as the game began. In addition, the forlorn look on the Dallas QB’s face while on the sidelines, combined with his vexed WR’s prompt acknowledgment of the Cowboys’ ongoing struggles, provided a clear reality check. Lip readers quickly went to work after they saw CeeDee say something to the QB on the sidelines…

Dak Prescott had a bad night

NFL’s highest-paid player in history, Dak Prescott sat expressionless on the bench with his head down at the end of the first half on Sunday, as CeeDee Lamb appeared to stroll by him, mouthing words that many guessed would be harsh. The reason? The quarterback had just thrown an interception. With about a minute left in the second quarter, the quarterback decided to lob a hasty pass to CeeDee Lamb, who was in the end zone. However, the WR was being tailed by Donte Jackson of the Steelers, who expertly leaped in the air, taking possession of the ball. Well, it shouldn’t come as a shock to Lamb, as the route might have already been agreed upon. At this point, the Steelers were trailing by 6-3, but they replied with a touchdown as Fields lobbed a 16-yard pass to Connor Heyward.

However, Dak Prescott made up for his mistakes and threw a late third-quarter 22-yard TD pass to Rico Dowdle and lead the Cowboys to a 13-10 lead. It’s astonishing to watch the Dallas Cowboys QB constantly having 300-yard games and failing to lead his team to a W. Notably, upon reaching the fourth quarter on Sunday, Lamb had just four receptions for 53 yards. Even more surprising is Dak’s connection with Lamb dwindling.

Notably, in Week 3 loss against the Baltimore Ravens (25-28), the WR had an early fumble in the red zone leading to a heated conversation with Prescott. For the rest of the game, Lamb appeared frustrated and showed less energy, earning him some hard words from Tom Brady. “Just some of that body language from him today — CeeDee’s a great player, there’s no doubt about it. Just a little frustration. Sometimes that frustration on the sideline leads to frustration on the field. When I see him at his best, he’s excitable, he brings the juice, brings the energy,”  the NFL icon said, as per The Athletic. While Lamb apologized for his behavior later, many sense some hostility building up…

After the game, Lamb even apologized saying how his attitude didn’t “help the situation or the outcome of the game”, while adding: “Quite honestly, I failed myself. And obviously, I failed the team just as far as producing and being that game-breaker player for the team and, obviously, the guy that they can lean on…And, yeah, I kind of let the game get to my head a little bit.” Yet his recent behavior only added fuel to the fire.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Dak Prescott losing his touch, or is CeeDee Lamb just too demanding on the field?

Have an interesting take?

Are the Dallas Cowboys trying something new, or is it the fact that the Prescott-Lamb connection is dulling down? Let’s look at what the fans made of the animated exchange between the QB-WR duo.

Fans try deciphering CeeDee Lamb

One fan predicted how Lamb was criticizing Dak for his bad throws as she wrote on X, Subpar throw. Subpar.Another fan pointed out something along the same lines, writing, Sub par throw. Sub par Dak (or maybe throw again). It seems like a lot of other people have the same opinion about the words that came out of CeeDee Lamb’s mouth.

While some fans attested Lamb’s words to Prescott’s slander, a fan pointed out his opinion of what Lamb was saying, Jump balls fo (folk), jump balls I got you. Another person had the same theory. Lamb was asking Prescott to throw him a jump ball, saying, He was telling him to throw a jump ball.”

Skip Bayless, on the other hand, specualated on X, “I’m not a great lip reader, so I’m not sure what CeeDee said to Dak on the sideline. But I don’t think it was, ‘Hang in there’.” “I’m seeing that maybe CeeDee said to Dak on the sideline, “Sub-par throw.” That’s actually putting it nicely about the interception. But no star QB wants to hear that from his star receiver. That could set their bridge on fire,” he added in a separate post.

Whatever the case, former Cincinnati Bengals WR Cris Collinsworth didn’t seem to appreciate the exchange. “Hard to explain, just throwing it into coverage and something is wrong…CeeDee Lamb at the end of that, I’ll let you read your own lips at Dak. Dak doesn’t react at all. Doesn’t look good,” the broadcaster said.

Even after all this happening, Prescott’s night got even worse after he threw a pick on a pass headed for Jalen Tolbert. It landed in the hands of Joey Porter Jr. Looks like Prescott and his team have a lot of questions to answer tonight. But the good thing is Jalen Tolbert saved the game and the Dallas Cowboys season with a couple of minutes remaining in the end. Somehow, the Dallas Cowboys managed to win the game with 20-17 on the board.
