Hear us out for a moment here! The number of draft picks does not indicate a player’s performance. Aaron Rodgers was picked 24th in the draft of 2005. Tom Brady was picked 199th. But guess who’s widely acknowledged as the GOAT of football? A truly iconic franchise picked up A-Rod. Brady? He was chosen by a head coach who helped him reach the Super Bowl nine times.

So, how much of that had to do with the coaching? Brady himself said what the coaching meant to him. “I’m really a product of what I’ve been around, who I was coached by, what I played against, in the era I played in.” He also said, “I really believe if a lot of people were in my shoes, they could accomplish the same kinds of things.” So, where would Rodgers have been now if he had been taken under Bill Belichick’s wings?

How would Aaron Rodgers have played under Belichick?

A-Rod may not have had the chance to play under Belichick until now, but will that change? Mark Daniels shared a pic on X, which could be prophetic. In the picture, Belichick spoke to A-Rod on a snowy gridiron field. His caption has got us thinking. “Bill Belichick has been talking to Aaron Rodgers for a while on the field.” Could a Rodgers’ trade to the New England Patriots be possible? Or would Bill Belichick even take over the New York Jets? What would that look like?

It’s somewhat difficult to find out. Belichick has never played with a franchise player with the same talent as Rodgers. A-Rod has nine seasons where he has rushed over 200 yards, including four 300-plus seasons. He is unbelievably athletic. On the other hand, Brady has never run over 110 yards in any of his seasons.

But our guess is Belichick would find a system for that. While lateral underneath passes to wideouts worked well with Brady, it would not with A-Rod. Belichick might have to leverage more vertical throws and move the pocket more than he did with the 7x Super Bowl winner. That gives rise to an interesting question. If the Patriots had chosen Rodgers, could he have won more championships?

Could Rodgers have won more Super Bowls than Brady?

Craig Rigsbee, an ex-Butte College HC, has an answer. He supposes that under Belichick, Rodgers would have won “four of five championships” instead of the one he has now. Rigsbee predicts Rodgers would have been “limitless” under Belichick. OC Josh McDaniels and he would have done “crazy stuff with Aaron.” The reason? Rodgers has the better arm talent and athleticism.

Belichick would have adapted to a mobile QB like him and found creative schemas to move the pocket and help him get outside. Michael Bishop, an ex-Pats QB, actually cast his vote against Brady. He said if one went by championships, then sure, Brady might be better. If one looked at who’s the more complete QB, it would be Rodgers, according to him.
