1 Super Bowl win is enough to establish you as one of the best players of your generation. If you happen to be a quarterback (QB), you become one of the greatest of the game. After all, you are the signal caller, the one who orchestrates the blueprint. Then, there are wardens of the game who have multiple Super Bowl appearances and multiple Super Bowl wins and become synonymous with the game itself. The question is—has Patrick Mahomes reached that status yet?
On February 9, he can become a part of a special legacy. No franchise has won 3 Super Bowls in a row yet. So many teams faltered at 2. The 49ers and Patriots came the closest, yet even the legend Tom Brady couldn’t make it 3 back-to-back. But Mahomes has the chance now. And he also has the chance to cement his place as one of the greatest QBs of all time.

The Super Bowl LIX will be Mahomes’ 5th Super Bowl appearance. Unprecedented, isn’t it? Technically, Mahomes is yet to play his 5th Super Bowl, so maybe the official figure is 4. Only two QBs have more Super Bowl appearances than Mahomes—John Elway with 5, and Tom Brady with 10.
But Mahomes has already left Elway behind when it comes to the Super Bowl MVP count. Mahomes has 3 while Elway only has 1. Only Brady stands in front of Mahomes with 5. But Mahomes is only 29. If he can play till in his 40s like Brady, who knows? Maybe Mahomes will displace Brady from the throne.
The talks have already started about Mahomes being right up there with Brady. The two are different in their styles, and Mahomes may probably never scale Brady’s throwing numbers, but with a 65.2 pass completion percentage, 267.8 yards per game, and a passer rating of 85.2, the Chiefs QB is undoubtedly one of the best.

Moreover, Mahomes’ significance lies in the way he established the Kansas City Chiefs as a dynasty. He was drafted in 2017, and till 2019, the Chiefs had only 2 Super Bowl appearances. But since 2019, Mahomes and the Chiefs have added 5 more, and some wins, too, along the way.
How many Super Bowls has Mahomes won?
Patrick Mahomes has already gone past most QBs in Super Bowl wins, but he is behind 3 people on the list. Brady has 7 wins in 10 Super Bowl appearances, while Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw have 4 each. Mahomes, so far, has won the Super Bowl 3 times. Since 2020, Mahomes and the Chiefs haven’t appeared in just 1 Super Bowl (LVI). And in the 4 Super Bowls Mahomes has played, he has won 3. The only time he missed out on a Super Bowl ring was in 2021 (Super Bowl LVII) when the Chiefs got beat by the Buccaneers.

Mahomes is 3-1 in Super Bowls and will be gunning for the 4th one that will put him right behind Brady. Brady’s 7 looks daunting but remember – Patrick Mahomes can play well till 40. Brady didn’t win his 4th Super Bowl till he was 37. Brady’s longevity was one of his weapons, but Mahomes has started early.
Let’s see what goes down at the Caesars Superdome in a few hours. Mahomes is a special breed. You know he is clutch and that’s what makes him a Super Bowl winner.
