Aaron Rodgers’ actual debut with the Jets fell short of meeting the expectations. The 32-19 loss in the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers has left the 4x MVP distraught and he took the fall for it. The game started with the New York Jets leading in the first quarter, but Brock Purdy and his troop ran circles around Rodgers’ team for the rest of the game.
The 167 yards, one touchdown, and one interception performance weren’t something that A-Rod cherished. He revealed the Jets’ shortcomings in the post-game presser. After waiting for a whole year, the Jets fans didn’t get what they longed for, and even the QB acknowledged the same.
“We were bad in first and second down… a lot to correct. But overall, I feel really good about our guys. We were a little off in the run game. A lot to build on,” the Packers’ Super Bowl winner said in the post-game presser. As mentioned Jets’ nation did not take the loss lightly. To say the least, the internet isn’t being kind towards the Jets’ veteran quarterback or the head coach Robert Saleh.

Post the game, Saleh’s candid admission of the team’s performance against the Niners caused a fan to go off on Connor Hughes’ post that said, “We’ll be better. 100 percent. I’m not worried,” Robert Saleh said. “We’ll get it fixed.” The fan didn’t hold back and expressed that “he [Saleh] needs to be fired.”
Exactly after 52 weeks of his Achilles injury, Rodgers threw his first pass to Breece Hall, but the pigskin was knocked off by Fred Warner and it counted as a fumble. On occasion, Allen Lazard dropped the pass from Rodgers and the Jets veteran quarterback was visibly upset about it. Not to mention the fact that the Jets went three and out on the opening drive.
Moreover, the acclaimed Jets’ defense was unable to stop the 49ers as the CB Michael Carter went out with an ankle injury. Another reason behind Jets defense’s failure was the absence of Haason Reddick, who is still holding out due to a misunderstanding in his contract. But coming back to the offense, Rodgers’ pass to Garett Wilson was intercepted in the third quarter on a second and 5 as the Jets trailed 23-7.
Garrett Wilson, who managed to rake in 60 yards over 6 receptions had this to say about the loss to the 49ers: “We’re not there yet. They whooped our a-s today.” It’s understandable that Rodgers has returned after a yearlong rehab, and it might take some time for him to adjust.

His performance wasn’t even that bad, but the Jets didn’t have a lot of possession. The 49ers ran 70 players while the Jets ran only 49 plays. Hence, Robert Saleh is about to face his fair share of scrutiny for not planning things better.

Is Robert Saleh going to the doghouse?
The Jets displayed a bad run game and a couple of dropped passes. The New York only attempted to run the ball 19 times over 68 yards, but Robert Saleh seems to be a bit relaxed. Connor Hughes’ post about Saleh’s complacency has sparked a huge debate on the internet and many fans want him gone. One fan just simply put it as “Can’t wait till this guy is gone.”
Another fan quoted the Jets’ HC’s statement and quipped, “The worst f—king coach in the NFL.” This positivity isn’t something new for Saleh, who has remained optimistic for the most part of his Jets coaching career. One fan just got fed up with the optimism and said, “That’s only the 500th time he’s said that.”

Another person reiterated Saleh’s 18-34 record with the Jets in his 3-year long career with the New York team and said that “he [Saleh] sucks.” Football brings out the emotions within, some might be good, others might be bad. However, we cannot ignore the fact that this was the first game of the season and the Jets have finally regained a little bit of confidence with Rodgers. Things might get better with time.
