Patrick Mahomes’ confidence might be one reason why the Chiefs could upset Lamar Jackson and the Ravens in the AFC title game. We often see the Chiefs locker room videos and Mahomes and Travis Kelce never fail to say the right words at the right time. Maybe this is the sort of confidence that made the QB and his team not feel inferior on the road game at all.
A reporter caught hold of Patrick Mahomes after the win and had some questions that she wanted to ask him. For a while, sports pundits and NFL broadcasters described the Chiefs and their QB as “underdogs” stepping into the M&T Bank Stadium. But the truth couldn’t have been further from that.

Patrick Mahomes on stepping into Lamar’s territory
Despite the apprehension against the Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce proved everyone wrong. Further, Kelce became a receiver with most post-season catches this year by breaking Jerry Rice’s record. In the same spirit, the reporter asked Mahomes about the win despite being labeled as an “underdog”, while the fans and analysts banked on the Chiefs losing the game.
“Yeah, it’s been a heck of a year. We’ve been underdogs for the last few games um, we never feel like the underdogs”. He mentions how he has unwavering faith in his team, though, he thinks that the “job is not done” as the team is headed to Las Vegas to play for another Lombardi Trophy. The Chiefs have been in 4 Super Bowls in their last 5 seasons.
These consistent results might be the reason people might not think of the Chiefs as an underdog anymore. Especially after the kind of performance that Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes put together today in the AFC title game.
