Michael Irvin could easily play the wise guy in a Quentin Tarantino film. (If the director ever decides to make one). Anyway, let’s get back to football. As you all know, Jerry Jones has been on a solo quest to find the next head coach for the Dallas Cowboys. So, you must be waiting for some kind of update. Well, the news is that his search has been, let’s just say, a bumpy ride. When it comes to disappointing their fans, Jerry Jones and the Cowboys never seem to miss the mark. In his solo quest, he’s been bringing in head coach candidates that no other team even seems to care about.
But here’s where things get even more interesting. A former Cowboys legend made a heartfelt request on a show, pleading with Jerry Jones to make the right move and save the team. If you missed the latest episode of Fox Sports’ talk show Speak, you better go watch it. Not only will you treat yourself to Michael Irvin’s brilliant monologue performance, but you’ll also see him urging Jerry Jones to finally make a wise move after so long. “We need hope and the only way you can spell hope for us is: D-E-I-O-N! D-E-I-O-N! D-E-I-O-N! Deion Sanders will bring us that hope! Jerry, make the right decision because we can’t endure the wrong for another 30 years.”

Reminding Jerry that it’s been thirty long years since Dallas last brought the Super Bowl home. Irvin added, “That drought is the longest drought of any NFC team which means one-third of Cowboys nation has never lived the glory of a championship story. We need a coach. We need a coach that can bring us together.”
Well, the 82-year-old has been busy scouting coaches. And Jones might have yet another one lined up for an interview. But it’s not someone Irvin or the Cowboys fans would want.
Jerry Jones to interview Brian Schottenheimer?
The talk of the town is that the Cowboys are sitting down with their OC Brian Schottenheimer for a second round of interviews. For the Cowboys fans out there -see, we told you it’s not someone you’d want to see. While other teams have been searching for the best possible options to improve next season, Jerry Jones has been bringing in candidates with the least impressive resumes. Dallas interviewed former Jets coach Robert Saleh, followed by Seahawks assistant head coach Leslie Frazier. They’re not even reaching out to the most in-demand candidates on the market.

Look at the Jets and the Patriots. The Jets wrapped up their search with Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn. Meanwhile, the Patriots decided to bring back their former player Mike Vrabel. Both teams did their homework, talking to the most ‘desired’ candidates available. But Dallas? It feels like they’re just spinning their wheels.
The Cowboys have already faced heat for parting ways with Mike McCarthy. And now, if Jerry is bringing Schottenheimer in to replace someone like McCarthy… well, let’s just say, the reactions could get interesting. Why not just listen to Michael Irvin and consider big names like Deion Sanders, rather than promoting somebody from within the team? Even the Pats, who are known for just going with internal promotions, didn’t do that this time. But then, it’s Jerry Jones who’s at the forefront. So maybe let’s just leave their destiny to them.
