Chris Jones is quite a hilarious character. He led the Kansas City Chiefs defense today and it looks like he couldn’t have done a better job at it. The 10-6 Chiefs have found a place in the playoffs this season, and it’s their 8 consecutive entry. However, Chris Jones came forth in the post-game presser and addressed the comments Ja’Marr Chase made about him.
Chase had a scuffle with the Chiefs mid-game after he was leading the Cincinnati Bengals and gave them an early start. As per him, the Chiefs were on to him since the early start of the game and pressured him so much that he couldn’t get past 41 yards! In the heat of the moment, the Bengals’ receiver did some trash talk about L’Jarius Sneed.

For context, Ja’Marr Chase said that the Chiefs do not have a “superstar on defense” and said, “I know what I see on paper and I know what I see in the game,” while adding, “That’s why they double everybody. Because they can’t do it one-on-one.”. Surprisingly, Chris Jones didn’t feel a need to reply to this and shut down Chase in the best way possible. In the presser, he was asked how he responded to the public comments from Ja’Marr Chase.
“We don’t comment. We just play man. You know, we don’t really talk, we don’t engage, with the back and forth. They do this every year, you know last year’s playoff, this year’s regular season.”. After saying this, what he said to the reporter made the room burst with laughter.
He said that he didn’t remember how many yards Chase had and proceeded to ask a rhetorical question to the reporter, and he replied, “41,” to which Chris Jones replied, “Exactly.”

The DT’s response turned a serious presser into a comedy show, and everyone started laughing. However, it is safe to say that this is the humblest way to shut down a trash-talker. Chase had something good to say about L’Jarius Sneed, and the whole roster decided to clap back at him.
Ja’Marr Chase couldn’t stop the trash-talking
He said earlier that Sneed is the “best player” in the Chiefs’ defensive line-up and later proceeded to have an altercation with him on the field. His neglectful comments didn’t sit well with the Chiefs’ defensive players, so they decided to hold him to 3 catches over 41 yards and no touchdowns.

It’s always a pleasure watching Chris Jones address the people and stand on business, just like he did today. Hopefully, the Chiefs’ defense will perform in the same manner in the next game against the Chargers, and they will fix some of their underlying issues with their offense. What’s your take on this game?
