What a tumultuous season this has been for the Cleveland Browns! After they lost their starting quarterback Deshaun Watson to a season-ending shoulder injury, fans had almost given up hope for this season. The Browns were looking at a QB crisis. Then, veteran player Joe Flacco joined the team to give them some hope. And with the Thursday Night Football win over the New York Jets, the Browns have now won four straight games.
What’s more, after the win, they also clinched a Wild Card playoff berth. But it seems like the Browns are just getting started. In an electrifying victory speech after the win, head coach Kevin Stefanski charged up the Browns for the upcoming games.

In a video shared by the official YouTube account of the Cleveland Browns, Stefanski can be seen addressing his players. “What you did tonight was, you earned that second season. That’s what!” he congratulated his players on securing a playoff berth with their 11-5 score. What was the main reason the Browns performed so well?
According to Stefanski, it was teamwork. He said that the team’s “I got your back” mentality has helped them win games so far. But he did not get carried away by the victory and said that in the postseason, they will have to face tougher teams, but he has full faith in them that they will be victorious.
So, how did the Browns manage to clinch their first playoff berth since 2020?

QB Joe Flacco had played for the opposing team for three seasons before he switched over to the Browns mid-season. In the first half itself, he scored three touchdowns and gave the Browns a 20-7 lead. He exited the stadium having recorded 309 passing yards and completed 19 of 292 passes. This was also his fourth consecutive game with 300-plus passing yards.
The QB helped his team despite his two top wideouts, Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore, not playing fully due to heel and concussion injuries. Tight end David Njoku came through for this team and caught 6 catches for 134 yards. However, the second half was uneventful, with both teams scoring nil in the third quarter and scoring one field goal each in the final quarter.

The Browns were sloppy during the game but were helped by the Jets’ coaches’ poor decisions. Entering the game, they were already the most penalized team in the league this season and penalties in the game cost them 12 more for 75 yards. Even though a win against the Browns would not have helped them secure a playoff berth, the team was looking for a comeback after their 30-0 humiliating defeat at the hands of the Miami Dolphins.
