After defeating the New England Patriots in the Week 15 matchup, Travis Kelce ran into coach Bill Belichick to share a few minutes together. They exchanged handshakes and engaged in a conversation, fueling speculation about the nature of their discussion. However, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end has now disclosed the details of their exchange.

Bill Belichick is arguably having a devastating season this time, with just three wins and 11 losses. Because of this, rumors are circulating that Robert Kraft might release Belichick from the squad after his illustrious 24-year coaching career. This speculation is disheartening for Belichick’s fans, including the Kelce brothers, who recently expressed their respect for the 71-year-old coach.

After the Chiefs defeated the Patriots by 10 points, Travis Kelce and Bill Belichick had an extended conversation during the post-game handshake. Typically, these handshakes are routine, but this one seemed more substantial and not just a usual “congratulations” or “played well.” In the latest episode of the “New Heights” podcast on Wednesday, the younger Kelce expressed his deep respect for Belichick and acknowledged that facing his defenses is always a significant challenge. Kelce said he wanted to make sure Belichick heard this directly from him, emphasizing that it’s been a pleasure competing against him in the NFL over the years.

He said, “I just mentioned how much I respect him and how much it’s always the biggest challenge I go up against in the National Football League is going up against one of his defenses… I was honestly just going up to him to pay respect over the 10 years that I’ve been going up against him and how much I appreciate the challenge every single time. Hats off to him for always being that great.” Kelce added it would be for the last time or something due to Belichick’s retirement news.

Adding to Kelce’s sentiments, his elder brother, Jason Kelce, chimed in and said, “I don’t know what’s going to happen.” He also praised Belichick’s smartness, detailing his ability in defense and creativity, highlighting that the coach can bring the best out of every player. Jason feels that Belichick is a “phenomenal coach,” so he respects him a lot.

Although the brothers deeply respect Belichick and want him in the Patriots forever, it’s essential to not forget where the Foxborough team is seeing him next season.

About a week ago, a report stated that Bill Belichick might be coaching his final season in New England. After this, he could be fired, resign, retire, or be traded to another team. Until now, no one has clearly indicated what will happen to Belichick. Furthermore, Belichick recently extended his contract with the Patriots, securing his tie to the team until at least 2024.

However, rumors suggest a potential departure, with Kraft’s team possibly seeking draft-pick compensation. A mutual parting could also benefit both sides, allowing Kraft to transition to the post-Belichick era after extending his contract last year. Besides, several coaching positions are available with teams like RaidersChargers, and Panthers.
