The Buffalo Bills won their face-off against the Kansas City Chiefs (Bills 20, Chiefs 17). It seems they have become pretty comfortable playing at Arrowhead Stadium. After all, it was their fifth game at the home of their nemesis. While the Bills almost lost the lead on an unbelievable lateral touchdown, the play was called back. But that’s not the only thing that went in their favor.

A video that was shared on Twitter (now X) showed how Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes‘ helmet almost got ripped off by Bills’ defender. Should this have resulted in a penalty?

The video shows Patrick Mahomes amid a play as the Bills try their hardest to tackle the Chiefs QB. We can see a Bills player holding on to Mahomes’ leg, and another coming from behind to tackle him. Well, the surprise didn’t come from Mahomes’ blindside. Instead, it came head-on. We can see a Bills player knocking Mahomes down and, in the process, hitting him in the face. This led to his helmet almost coming off.

The surprising part? This is a clear foul and there was no flag on it. Viewers saw the same thing in the game against the Packers where Valdes-Scantling took a hit from behind, but the Packers weren’t penalized for it.

Recent NFL games have the fans scratching their heads and questioning the state of officiating. Mahomes was even seen fuming at the referees after the game.

Did the Bills almost lose the game?

The Chiefs had what looked like a potential touchdown in the final two minutes on a long lateral from Travis Kelce to Kadarius Toney. However, Toney was offsides to start the play, and the Chiefs got penalized for it. They were unable to move the ball after that. And soon the game finished.

However, what made this win special was the fact that they won a close game. After all, the team isn’t known for being effective under such circumstances.
