Al Michaels is one of those omnipresent voices in the sports world that many of us have grown up with. It doesn’t really matter the sport, he’ll show up, and he’ll commentate like his life depends on it. He’s covered 8 different World Series, 6 Super Bowls, 3 Stanley Cups, and 2 NBA finals, the only play-by-play commentator to have done all 4. Michaels is best known for his nearly 2-decade-long run on ABC Monday Night Football, from 1986-2005, followed up right after by a 15-year run on NBC Sunday Night Football. Michaels’ iconic commentary led to the canonization of the Miracle on Ice, way back in 1980. Announced to be Amazon Prime’s NFL announcer for Thursday Night Football last year, here’s more about the man and his lovely partner, Linda Anne Stamaton.
Who is Linda Anne Stamaton?
Born on December 18, 1944, Linda Anne Stamaton is now 79 years old. She went to Hamilton High School in Los Angeles, California growing up, which is where she met her future husband. She would later find work in television in the mid-1960s, on shows like The Dating Game and The Newlywed Game, as an assistant prize coordinator. Though there have been rumors she was involved in a car accident, they are unsubstantiated. Neither Anne nor Al Michaels have come forward with any statements in this regard, nor have there been any police reports released that involve her.

After her time working in television, Stamaton seems to have preferred to live her life in the background. She went on to dedicate herself to the family, raising two children. Steven Michaels, born in 1970, and Jennifer Cohn, born in 1974. Steven is now a successful producer, having been involved in The Kennedys and Beyond the Glory.

When did Al Michaels and Linda Anne Stamaton get married?
You already know they met in high school, apparently in the 10th grade. Now, they didn’t marry fresh out of high school, but it was close. They were both 22 when they got married, in August of 1966. And Al Michaels worked right alongside Linda on The Dating Game, as a talent coordinator. Given The Newlywed Game first broadcast in 1966 too, it would have been fun if they’d both worked on that together. They would have been newlyweds organizing newlyweds!

Speaking about his wife, Michaels has said “She is the love of my life. She is just the greatest.” Must take a pretty impressive woman to leave a color commentator at a loss for words. We’re glad the Michaels have had nearly 60 years of marital bliss, and we wish them many more.
