The tales and records that the Chiefs‘ QB Patrick Mahomes and TE Travis Kelce duo have achieved throughout their NFL careers make a long list. Yet, anchoring another unbelievable record on that list, the duo unlocked a rare accolade. This comes along with the performance the duo displayed throughout the Chiefs’ 6-1 season.
Mahomes, being the exceptional QB he is, completed 32 of 42 pass attempts, along with 424 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception against the 2-4 Chargers. On the other hand, tight end Kelce caught 12 out of the 13 targeted passes for 179 yards and a touchdown at the Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday night. Nothing much, just one of the best QB-TE duos of the league being themselves.

Yet, the surprising part came when NextGenStats announced an insane fact. Per the NFL website, QB Mahomes had successfully completed 28 straight passes to Kelce dating back to Week 5. For this to unfold, there was just a 0.03%, which is a 1 in 3000 chance of happening. Additionally, the scary yet thrilling part is that Mahomes and Kelce are not stopping till they probably surpass almost every other record in the league.
The iconic 400-plus yardage absolutely annihilated the Chargers. Furthermore, Sunday marked the 10th game in Mahomes’ professional career to cross the minimum 400-yard line. Until now, only 7 other legendary players, including Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Matthew Stafford, and more, have crossed this mark before the Chiefs’ QB in the league. Moreover, Mahomes broke Dan Marino’s record of achieving 10 games with at least 400 yards the fastest. Marino accomplished the record in his 90th career game, whereas Mahomes did it in his 87th career game. The QB and Kelce are on a roll.

Travis Kelce nears Hall of Famer’s record
Speaking of records, the Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce had the fifth game in his career with 10-plus receptions and at least 150 receiving yards. As tough as it sounds, it has been executed by only one legendary tight end in the league, the Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe. Sharpe remains the only tight end in history with a minimum of 5 games with 150-plus receiving yards.
