Mark it! Mike Vrabel is likely to become a prominent name in the upcoming head coach hiring cycle -or at least that’s what analysts predict. Vrabel’s story is certainly full of surprises. Despite leading the Titans to four consecutive winning seasons and three straight playoff appearances, they released him in 2023. Now, with many NFL teams searching for a strong head coach, Vrabel is viewed as one of the top candidates for the next season.

One of the best teams for Mike Vrabel could be the Chicago Bears, as per NFL veteran analyst, Colin Cowherd. During a December 12 episode of his podcast, The Herd with Colin Cowherd, the host explored the possibility of him being a fit for the Bears. But, why?

Well, it’s because Cowherd emphasized giving a hypothetical situation, “If I was Chicago, I’d offer (Mike) Vrabel the job. If I’m Vrabel, I’m not sure I’d take it, but I speak with Mike Vrabel and I will tell you that what matters to him and I don’t want to get too much into the details is roster composition and I think it’s reasonable to say that (Bill) Belichick and Vrabel, both see Chicago is a very good roster right now.

So, Cowherd believes that Chicago’s roster composition might appeal to someone like Mike Vrabel, as it aligns with what he values in a coaching job. There is no doubt that Vrabel is a coach who believes in building and fixing things. Given the current situation of the Bears where they fired ex-HC Matt Eberflus, Vrabel could get his opportunity to lead the team to win.

While Mike Vrabel might be a great hire for the Bears, he could also be a great candidate for two other teams.

What’s your perspective on:

Could Mike Vrabel be the missing piece for the Bears' resurgence, or is it a risky move?

Mike Vrabel will be taking up the HC role in any team soon?

The Bears are seeing Mike Vrabel as their top candidate for the head coach role. But they aren’t alone in this hunt. They have two main potential competitors too – the Cowboys and the Raiders. On December 11, ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler circled Dallas as the potential landing spot for him, as he said, “Some around the league have noted the Cowboys as a natural fit [with Vrabel]. They valued experience and pedigree with their last hire in Mike McCarthy and could lean that way again, if they decide to make a change at all.” This speculation has raised a lot of rumors regarding Mike McCarthy’s firing and the replacement. However, till now, no official news has been out yet.

In addition to that, Mike Vrabel could be seen as a good contender for the Raiders. For this too, the Insider called him a “prime candidate,” identifying him as the best fit for the Las Vegas team. That’s what Colin Cowherd, in the same episode, pointed out that despite their strengths like a star TE (Brock Bowers), a solid left tackle (Kolton Miller), and a standout pass rusher (Maxx Crosby), the Raiders still need an offensive-minded coach and a reliable quarterback. Hence, Mike Vrabel could be the one, but again he needs to settle the QB scene soon for that.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen what happens next. But one thing is sure, Mike Vrabel is an important contender for the hiring cycle next year, given the scene where he went 54-45 in six seasons with Tennessee. That’s what any team wants!
