For the last few weeks, the rumor mills were churning at full speed. As per reports, the former Tennessee Titans‘ head coach, Mike Vrabel, was being eyed for the job of coaching Aaron Rodgers. However, Vrabel has seemingly declined the position!
Vrabel was fired by the Titans earlier this year after serving as the head coach for 6 years. Several reports suggested he could be in line for the top coaching position at the New York Jets. Instead, Vrabel has put his vote of confidence in Robert Saleh, the current HC for the New York Jets.
Mike Vrabel stays firm on the Jets’ job

The former defensive end for the New England Patriots had great success in leading the Titans. But the management failed to include him further in their plans. Hence, he was let go in January of this year. Since then, the unemployed coach has been linked with several teams. But one of them is out of contention now!

The 48-year-old said, “No, that’s Robert’s job” when asked about being contacted by the Jets. Vrabel is currently in Indianapolis for the NFL Combine 2024.
Many are shocked that any of the franchises have not hired Vrabel till now. But, his presence at the NFL Combine signifies that there is interest in him. But Saleh will breathe a sigh of relief, that he has the backing of a top coach. The Jets will need to improve their performances if Saleh needs to end the season as the HC as well!
Robert Saleh has job security for the start of the season
Saleh joined as the head coach for the Jets in 2021, but the performances in these three seasons have been lacking. After the blockbuster trade of A-Rod to the Jets, expectations were things would turn out differently. However, his injury turned the season sour once again!

The Jets have failed to qualify for the playoffs under the 45-year-old coach. Finishing rock bottom in their AFC East division and second last in the 2023 season. Even though his job is safe for now, many expect that won’t be the case by the middle of the season if the owners do not see any improvement in the fate of the Jets.
