The walls are trickling down on the Las Vegas Raiders. The sacking of HC Josh McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler has raised many eyebrows in the last few days. Further Jimmy Garoppolo being benched in the game against the New York Giants has brought on more scrutiny for the side. The Raiders sure have a penchant for making some serious changes to the team!

After everything was said and done, some facts from the past came to light about the GM Dave Ziegler. His words to Josh McDaniels might have been a premonition of the dark time ahead for the Raiders. A post from MLFootball spills the tea about Garoppolo’s hefty contract with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Dave Ziegler, a responsible GM?

Jimmy Garoppolo was signed with the Las Vegas Raiders for a three-year $72 million deal. Seemingly, it was HC Josh McDaniels who had a key role in the signing of Jimmy G. It’s come to light that Ziegler and McDaniels didn’t see eye to eye on the matters concerning the QB and his presence on the team.

Zeigler had advised McDaniels against signing Garoppolo to the Raiders. The ex-GM had thought that it was a “horrible” decision to sign Garoppolo. However, Josh McDaniels had the upper hand on the situation and Ziegler had to go along with it, mostly because he didn’t have much choice.

There are some other instances of supposedly unwise management from coach McDaniels. The signing of Chandler Jones for instance came as the last straw here. Matters further turn against him as soon after his sacking, the Raiders grabbed a dominant victory over the Giants, astonishing everyone with their exceptional performance.

Whether Ziegler was right or wrong might not be relevant because, in the end, the team has shown nothing but dismal numbers this season. This also caused grievances to Davante Adams, who went to play for the Raiders just because his friend Derek Carr was playing with the team.

The quandary of Davante Adams and Jimmy Garoppolo

Davante Adams is a veteran wide receiver and has put up some exceptional stats in the past. The problem with him started when Derek Carr was no longer a part of the Raiders, and he was left in crisis with a QB who could not handle the kind of plays Adams was making. This may have been a mistake on McDaniels’ part to misjudge the compatibility between the two major position holders in his team.

Amid this, some fans felt the pain of Davante Adams and voiced out that he was wasting his career with the Raiders, urging him to seek other arrangements. Maybe the other arrangements are on their way, though not in the sense people expected them to be. The Raiders just secured a win under the new interim Head Coach, Antonio Pierce and even though it might be too late for them to make it to the playoffs, they are on the right trajectory.
