Jalen Hurts just broke Cam Newton’s record for most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in a season. This happened after the game against the New York Giants. Cam Newton has an affinity toward being vocal about a lot of things. His honest take and unfiltered opinions sometimes don’t sit well with fans. Earlier, Newton dubbed Jalen Hurts a “game manager,” and people thought he would bash Jalen Hurts for breaking his record.
However, things couldn’t be further from the truth. As it turns out, Cam Newton has a newfound respect for the Philadelphia Eagles QB and is not “bitter” about the whole ordeal. Eagles Nation shared a snippet of Cam Newton’s podcast 4th and 1 Show and highlighted what Cam thought about Jalen Hurts.

The interviewer asked Newton about Jalen Hurts breaking his record for most TDs by a QB in a season and sought his reaction. The host pointed out the difference between Cam scoring the TDs and Hurts relying more on the Tush Push and how people believe Newton’s TDs to be more valuable than the Eagles’ QB. The host then played a fascinating clip of Cam Newton doing a backflip and scoring a TD.

The motivation behind sharing the ex-QB’s backflip TD was to highlight the obvious difference between the two. However, Newton’s first reaction was that he didn’t care about people breaking his record or how Jalen Hurts scored his TDs as long as he was scoring. He addressed the Tush Push situation by saying, “It’s what they’re (the teammates) are there for.” He added, “Jalen is definitely a product of a situation that’s favorable to his strengths.”
Newton mentioned how Jalen Hurts “unbelievably” breaking these records doesn’t make him feel “bitter” and said, “Jalen Hurts, bro, you’re doing an amazing job.” However, the last game against the Giants raises questions about how strong the Philadelphia Eagles are. Sure, they find ways to win, but would they fare against a team like the Niners or Ravens?

It was a very close win against the New York Giants. It’s a recurring theme with the Eagles that the only points they score come from Jake Elliott. He scored four field goals, and the Eagles rushed the ball to the end zone twice. First, it was DeVonta Smith with a 36-yard pass from Jalen Hurts in the second quarter, and then it was D’Andre Swift with a 5-yard TD rush.

If they fail to solve these issues, they won’t be able to fight against the strong teams. On paper, Hurts completed 24 out of 38 passes he threw for 301 yards. But a pick-six from Adoree Jackson was a bane for the Eagles’ QB.
