Tyreek Hill, the Miami Dolphins‘ star wide receiver, has been the subject of trade rumors lately. But Tyreek always speaks his mind, whether it’s cracking jokes or calling plays on social media. Remember his playful shot at Tua last year? Even with some bumps in 2024, Hill still has great numbers. Moreover, he sent a message about his terms with the team.

Tyreek Hill, on his Instagram story, wrote “can’t wait ❤”  which refers to him getting back on the field for the Dolphins. But it didn’t seem like that at one point? Last year November, a fan shared a tweet, that read: “I Think TUA’s first playback should be a QB designed run to show the League he ain’t scared. #gofins”. And, Hill reposted the tweet with a joke, “Who gone call the next play?” Well, this was surely a cheeky dig at Tua, but later, the ‘Cheetah‘ apologized for his take. On a podcast episode, he said, “This is my public apology to Tua, I love you, bro” and when asked if wanted to say sorry to the team, he just replied, “Oh god, yeah!”

More so, there had been other instances when Hill had expressed his desire to remain in Miami: “They have been really good to me. So why am I going to go out and say some of the things…Man, I’m gonna take full accountability of it” and “I’m gonna come back next year, hoping to be there and burst my tail for the guy, for the team, for the whole city.” Hill’s contract situation adds weight to his commitment.

He signed a four-year, $120 million extension with the Dolphins. The deal includes $72.2 million in guarantees, with $52.535 million fully guaranteed at signing. This means that trading Hill would result in a significant cap hit for Miami. So, a trade or release seems unlikely.

Well, Miami has yet to make its financial decisions, including Tagovailoa’s extension. Hill did not show any interest in trade talks and expects to be part of the team’s long-term plans. It’s unclear if Miami shares that vision, but Hill has no plans to leave. So, Hill remains a crucial piece of Miami’s offense. Soon we will likely watch him run with QB Tua Tagovailoa under the HC Mike McDaniel‘s guidance. And who knows he might even mentor younger receivers like Jaylen Waddle.

On the other hand, trade rumors have linked Hill to teams like the Dallas Cowboys. Hill’s commitment to Miami suggests he intends to be part of the team’s future success, but these rumors might have some weight.

Jerry Jones’ interest in Tyreek Hill and the evolving WR market

The Dallas Cowboys are in big-name trades as always. And Tyreek Hill might just be Jerry Jones’ draft-day dream. Despite Hill reaffirming his commitment to the Miami Dolphins, rumors of a potential move haven’t gone away. Former NFL QB Kurt Benkert initiated the conversation. He suggested that Miami could deal with Hill as early as the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Dallas is in need of another great playmaker and Jones could see Hill as the missing piece in their pursuit of a Super Bowl.

Pairing Hill with CeeDee Lamb would instantly create one of the most explosive receiving duos in the league. Lamb is already one of the NFL’s top wideouts. But, adding Hill’s game-breaking speed would take the Cowboys’ passing attack to another level. Defenses wouldn’t be able to focus solely on Lamb, and Dak Prescott would have two ideal targets stretching the field. If Dallas is serious about getting past teams like the 49ers and Eagles in the NFC, making a move for Hill could be a game-changer.

Of course, the financial side of things makes this complicated. Hill is in the middle of a four-year, $120 million contract with Miami, and moving him would come with cap implications for both teams. The Cowboys already have some major financial decisions looming, including extensions for Lamb and Micah Parsons. However, Jerry Jones has never been shy about making bold moves, and if he sees an opportunity to land a superstar, he won’t hesitate to pull the trigger.

Reports suggest that the Ravens are also after Hill. Plus, Benkert claimed that Baltimore can be a perfect fit. Lamar Jackson has never played with a receiver of Hill’s caliber, and adding him would give the Ravens a good weapon to push for another deep playoff run. But if Jones is serious about bringing another championship to Dallas, he might just be the one to make the biggest splash on draft night.
