So, it wasn’t just Page six talk after all. Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles and NFL’s Cheetah Tyreek Hill have had enough of online feuds. Going back and forth on who’s the fastest will soon be decided in an anonymous location that’s still yet to be revealed. But here’s the latest twist in the feud that has got the track and field world and the NFL to square off against each other. Some of Hill’s comments haven’t been received well by a 400m track and field superstar.
First, let’s give you some context on what led Vernon L Norwood to get involved. See the moment Noah Lyles won his fourth straight 60m final at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix at the start of this month. He pulled out a message for the Dolphins’ star receiver that read, “Tyreek could never.” Then, in an exclusive interview with People, it was confirmed that Lyles and Hill would officially race against one another. Hill took a jibe at the track and field world on 13th Feb, tweeting, “Track world about to be in shambles.”
This rubbed Norwood the wrong way, who came with a jibe of his own a day later, “Hell nah! You fast, but you food.” Now, Tyreek isn’t the one who would just eat up an insult at his capabilities. Yeah, Lyles may have an edge on track and field because of his pedigree. Hill also has a history of his own. Going back to his college days, Hill once ran a 9.98-second 100-meter race. And even won a bronze medal in 200 meters at the World Junior Championships almost a decade back. So, Hill had a cryptic response to Norwood’s taunt, “I got a NFL guy that whoop you to.”

Cryptic why? Because the NFL guy whom Tyreek is talking about isn’t clear. Is he referring to himself? Or is there some other NFLer who is ready to back Hill in this cross-sports rivalry? Now, you cannot also rule out the possibility of Tyreek gearing up to face Norwood after he is done with Lyles’ feud. But Vernon is a completely different challenge compared to Lyles. He is a multiple-time Olympic and World Championships gold medalist. And also holds the record for the fastest men’s 4×400 relay team dash at this year’s Paris Olympics. (2:54.43). However, for now, Tyreek may have to focus on Lyles. One mistake, and there’s a chance Hill will lose his credibility in this fastest-man debate.

Tyreek Hill and Noah Lyles are all set to put their fastest titles on the line
2024 was all about the trash talk between Hill and Lyles. Noah, who was just fresh of winning the title of the fastest man on the earth from his 9.784 seconds 50-yard dash win in the Paris Olympics, had an unlikely challenger in Hill. He came out and said back in August, “I would beat Noah Lyles. I wouldn’t beat him by a lot, but I would beat him.” This led to Lyles giving an instant response via Shannon Sharpe’s Night Cap podcast, saying, “If he’s serious about it, not just talking on the internet..if you’re serious about it, you’ll see me on track.” Hill then continued the beef retweeting, Lyles comments adding, “Sign the contract and lock in that 50 yard race…” But Lyles always wanted it to be a 100-yard race, while Hill was never in that range.
So, when the two finally agreed on a race in a joint interview with People, Lyles claimed, “If it was 100-meters, it’d be a blowout, you know, we gotta meet in the middle.” However, Hill isn’t someone who will keep his mouth shut during a trash-talk. He also hit back, adding, “Hold on, hold on, blowout?! The only thing, the only thing that looks like it’s blowing out is your hair, so you need to chill.” See, Hill is a winner on the gridiron. He may not have a gold medal like Lyles does.

At least the Dolphins superstar has confidence in his capabilities. So, only time will tell what’s gonna happen. Will it be Lyles who cements his status as the fastest man on the planet? Or will it be the NFL’s Cheetah who snatches Lyles’ title and shows track and field who’s the real boss? Whatever happens, it will be a sprint showdown for the ages and an event you can’t miss out on.
