Tyreek Hill’s potential contract extension is the new talk of the town. However, the Miami Dolphins wide receiver isn’t paying much attention to the surfacing rumors. On Monday, Justin Jefferson signed a four-year, $140 million contract extension. With this new deal, he has become the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL. Hence, it’s obvious for other WRs to look into their contract extensions that are nearing, especially Hill, who would wish to retain the highest-paid title back from 2022.
Furthermore, when asked about the pay raise desire, Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus also hinted that he is trying for a significant bump in the contract of his client. Now, when Cheetah was interrogated about his thoughts on the same, Hill surprisingly side-stepped the talks citing Amazon delivery drivers’ analogy.
Tyreek Hill isn’t being ‘greedy?’

During his OTA training on Tuesday, Tyreek Hill told the reporters that he knew the contract question was about to come. However, he informed them that he isn’t concerned about it as the WR is leaving that to his agent to discuss, against the scenes of not wanting to put Miami in a financial hole.
Hill expressed, “I want to be able to help the team as much as I can, and obviously we already know that being greedy ain’t gonna help the team, so whatever happens, happens.” Additionally, when asked if he believes he should always be paid as a top-five receiver, Hill responded confidently.
The 30-year-old explained that if someone feels they are among the best in the field, they should be compensated accordingly. He compared it to being a top Amazon delivery driver, saying, “If you work at Amazon. If you like one of the best Amazon delivery drivers, you are going to feel a certain type of way. You’re going to go to your boss and say “hey bro I’m doing 100 routes and this person is only doing 65 routes. I am supposed to be the top-paid person.” So if you feel like you deserve something, go get it. You feel me top five all day.”
Tyreek Hill signed a four-year, $120 million deal in 2022 with the Phins. Now he stands on fourth rank in highest-paid receivers with an average of $30 million per season. He is behind Jefferson, A.J. Brown ($32 million), and Amon-Ra St. Brown (a bit more than $30 million per year).

Will the Dolphins restructure Tyreek Hill’s contract?
Tyreek Hill is due to earn $19.6 million this year, which, when compared, is significantly less than the $35 million average annual salary of Justin Jefferson. After leading the league with 1,799 receiving yards the previous season, it’s evident why comments arise that Hill should receive a higher salary among top WRs.
While there’s speculation about an adjusted deal for Hill, it might make sense for the Dolphins to keep his contract as it is. Miami is currently under the salary cap of 2024, yet projected to exceed it by over $15 million next year. If they release Hill post-June 1 designation next offseason, they could save $22.9 million in 2025 and $45 million in 2026. However, this would mean losing Hil, who is a valuable player for the Phins.

Nevertheless, Hill wants to stay in Miami for his entire career, as he mentioned his love for the city during the OTAs interview. And the Dolphins seem inclined to keep him. Additionally, it seems like Hill is also willing to accept a lower salary if it helps the team compete for a Super Bowl. What do you think will be the next step for the Phins and Hill?
