Sports is a world of controversies and rivalries that often ignite debates that capture public attention. The same happened when Shannon Sharpe warned Tyreek Hill, about his crown of being the fastest player in the NFL. Sharpe suggested that the WR should be concerned about his position in the NFL after rookie Xavier Worthy’s impressive performance.
On the 18 August episode of his podcast with guest Chad Johnson, Sharpe stated, “How about Reek just settle for being the NFL’s fastest man? That’s now in question with Xavier Worthy now in the NFL.” Sharpe was referring to the moment when Worthy hauled a sizzling 60-yard BOMB from Patrick Mahomes during the Kansas City Chiefs preseason drills.
Even though it is Xavier’s first season on the NFL ground, he showed a remarkable speed of 4.21-second 40-yard dash during preseason. Selected 27th overall, Worthy introduces a new deep threat for the Chiefs’ rivals after Hill’s departure. With seasoned players like Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice, Worthy’s speed might be a nightmare for opponents.

On the other hand, the “Cheetah” of the NFL clocked a speed of 4.29 40-yard dash back in his NFL Combine days. However, the former track athlete turned 30 this March and his age might hinder his speed. So, it is pretty obvious to assume that Worthy can prove to be a strong threat to Hill’s title.
Well, this is not the only issue that Hill is facing these days. The Phins’ WR is currently in an ongoing feud with Noah Lyles.
Tyreek Hill’s response to Lyles calling him a ‘clout chaser’
It all started when the WR called out Noah for criticizing NBA players for referring to themselves as “world champions” after winning a championship. Hill in his usual swagger, claimed, “I would beat Noah Lyles. I’m not going to beat him by a lot, but I would beat Noah Lyles”.

Well, Lyles chose not to back down and had a reply ready for the ‘Cheetah’. Noah accused Hill of ‘chasing clout’ further stating if he wanted a race, he would have done it already. Hill was not in the mood to let it slide and responded by giving him a challenge, “Sign the contract and lock in that 50-yard race.” This further intensified the debate, highlighting the contrasting worlds of sports and the competition between top athletes.

Hill’s challenge and Lyles’ criticism surely added fuel to the situation, further complicating the public perception of Hill’s status in the sports world. It even got well-known personalities like Sharpe and Johnson commenting on it. And fans have already chosen their respective sides.
But comments like “Tyreek said he’d beat Noah in 100m. Now he’s talking about 50 yards which isn’t even 50m” and “50 yards is crazy lol, nobody tryna watch that. Give us the full 100 and we’ll gladly tune in,” show that people are waiting to see what happens next. But who would you pick as the potential winner if the race were to happen?
