It is always great to see athletes from different sports interacting with each other. Whether they are supporting one another or having a friendly banter online, it always entertains. Recently, Olympic champion Noah Lyles and NFL wide receiver Tyreek Hill engaged in some very interesting banter online.
It all started when Lyles won the 60m indoor final. As he celebrated his victory, he had an interesting message for Hill. The 27-year-old held up a piece of paper in front of his face that read, “Tyreek Could Never.” Lyles even shared an image of this on X with the caption, “Let me show you the world’s fastest man.” No one would have expected Hill to stay silent on the matter, and he certainly didn’t. The Dolphins WR shared a couple of posts on X in response to Lyles. He captioned the first one, “Get a load of this guy,” while questioning Lyles’s “fastest man” claim in the other, asking, “Who gave you that title? Your Wikipedia page?”

‘Cheetah’ is among the fastest players in the NFL, sure. But this playful banter is not their first. Back in August 2024, Hill went on a podcast and confidently said he could beat the Olympic sprinter. Lyles wasn’t impressed, calling Hill a “clout chaser” and telling him to make it official if he really wanted to race.
While we haven’t heard any updates about an official competition between these two amazing athletes, Lyles has definitely shown that he’s excited and ready to take on the challenge! Following his race, Lyles told NBC, “When you’re ready to actually put some words down and you’re actually ready to race, see me. I’m right here. I ain’t going nowhere. But all I know is, your football season’s over. You ain’t got no excuse now.”

The ball is now in Hill’s court. Will he face Lyles? In 2023, Hill participated in the men’s 60m at the USATF Masters Indoor Championships, finishing first with a time of 6.70 seconds. However, after the race, the Dolphins player tweeted, “Never racing again had me looking wild.” It seems Hill has decided to step back from racing, so it would be quite a surprise to see him compete against Lyles professionally. Yet, there’s still room for hope, right?
Is Tyreek Hill leaving the Dolphins?
Everyone knows Tyreek Hill is not one to shy away from saying what is on his mind. Well, the Dolphins WR showed that once again and did not back away from sharing his thoughts after their loss to the Jets. Talking to the reporters, he said: “This is my first time missing the playoffs. I just gotta do what’s best for me and my family. Whether that’s here or somewhere else, I’m opening that door. I’m out, bro.”

What’s your perspective on:
Can Tyreek Hill really challenge Noah Lyles, or is he just chasing clout with his claims?
Have an interesting take?
Since the 30-year-old has made these comments, everyone has been speculating what he will do next. Hill has 2 seasons left in his contract with the Dolphins, and his only way out will be through a trade. But will that happen? One can not be sure. The former Super Bowl champion is one of the best WRs out there and several teams would want him, even the Chiefs. It might be interesting, though, as Hill had one of his worst-ever seasons, with just 2 hundred yard games. Will other teams be willing to trade for him after such a performance?
Whatever happens, it will be interesting for the fans to watch. His feud with Lyles is also one that seems to be dying down anytime soon. Will we ever see the two superstar athletes compete on the track? We will just have to wait and see.
