Finally, the game is on again. Weren’t we waiting to watch the NFL star going all in against the Olympian legend? It’s a classic tale of speed mixed with vengeance. Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill, who has been going back and forth at the sprinter Noah Lyles, took a shot again at the runner. All of this started in Feb 2023 with a smirk and 4 words: “World champions of what?” Since then, it has spiraled out of control. It became a full-blown social media war until they settled it in person around two months ago.
In February this year, both declared an open challenge to each other. There will be a face-off in the 60-meter dash (rumored) in the summer or spring before the US championships this July. That was thrilling, right? But after that, the matter kind of settled down. Buckle up! The receiver just reignited it.
On April 5, Noah Lyles uploaded a video of himself getting a customized jacket from the designer, Jeff Hamilton. As an Olympic gold medalist, he deserves all the attention that he gets. However he called it as something that he has been dreaming for past four years. Surprising, right? And when he got it, he was over the moon. The blue and black jacket with a hint of gold looked classic. Hamilton even wrote the word ICON on the back of the jacket. But Tyreek Hill didn’t miss the chance to troll his rival and wrote, “He don’t know you.” Ouch!

As an Olympic medalist, Lyles is definitely popular around the world and especially in America. But that was just another attempt to gain the upper hand in the psychological warfare between two ultra-competitive athletes. They’ve been going up against each other for quite some time now. But is Tyreek Hill competent with Noah?
Hill didn’t get the nickname “Cheetah” for nothing—this guy is seriously fast. Back in 2016, he hit a top speed of 23.24 mph during a kick return, which was the fastest recorded in the NFL’s Next Gen Stats that year. And his 40-yard dash? A blazing 4.29 seconds.
He’s not just fast on the football field, either. Hill has a track and field background, competing in the 100m and 200m back in college, with a personal best of 10.19 seconds in the 100m. Fast forward to 2024: he returned to the track for the first time in nine years and clocked a 6.70 in the 60-meter dash at the USA Track and Field Masters Indoor Championships, competing in the 25-29 age group.
What’s your perspective on:
Can Tyreek Hill's football speed really match up to Noah Lyles' Olympic track prowess?
Have an interesting take?
One thing that stands out in this rivalry is their creativity. Both have used unique methods to troll each other.
Tyreek Hill vs Noah Lyles – A clash of big egos
While the beef started with Lyles’s comments, neither of them has missed a chance to take a shot at the other. After Lyles won the 60-meter final at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in February, he held up a cardboard sign that read, “Tyreek could never.”
He later explained it by saying that many people claim to be the fastest in the world, but when it comes to running on the track, they don’t deliver. He also boosted his ego a bit, adding that he’s the one who wins when the pressure is on and the stakes are high.

That’s right—Lyles has an Olympic gold to his name. But Tyreek Hill wasn’t too happy about the disrespect. He was fired up by the challenge, and let’s be honest, everyone knows he’s lightning fast on the football field. The Dolphins wide receiver didn’t hold back, either. He clapped back, saying, “We can come and take over your sport at any moment if we really wanted to,” asserting his dominance as a football player who can run.
The only end to this fight could be a face-off race. They announced the race—or at least, it’s on. But the battle lines are still being drawn. Lyles is gunning for a full 100 meters, determined to prove his dominance on the track. Hill, on the other hand, wants the showdown at 40 meters, where his explosive speed shines the brightest. A compromise seems inevitable, but one thing’s for sure—this clash of titans is far from over.
