It’s not every day that you get to humiliate a football player by beating them at their own game. Well, that’s precisely what happened after Tyreek Hill and his camp, The Soul Runner Speed Academy, headed to Rochester, New York. But before the ‘Cheetah’ lost a play of speed and precision, he was met with a particularly interesting question from a kid who didn’t hold back.

The Miami Dolphins wide receiver has made it a tradition to travel around the county, training young talent from all over. “I feel like, to me, not many athletes are dedicating themselves to the future of football,” said Hill. Seeing as he is one of the best wide receivers in the league, Hill is using that expertise to help football grow. “It’s really important to me and my family to come out here and share some of the wisdom I’ve learned playing football.” So, as he and his team visited Monroe High School, snippets from his interactions with the students surfaced.

AJ Feldman from News 8 WROC shared that Tyreek Hill was taking questions from the kids at his camp, and the “first kid [came] out swinging” as they asked, “Patrick Mahomes or Tua?” Now, Hill isn’t known to fumble on the gridiron. But this question sure had him tongue-tied for words. And understandably so, because he had to choose between Mahomes – arguably the best quarterback right now (and also happens to be his former teammate, who he was allegedly not on good terms with) – and Tua Tagovailoa, his current quarterback teammate.

As many were curious about Hill’s answer, Feldman tweeted, “He said there were a lot of cameras around, so he just answered that he likes them both and pleaded the fifth.” Tyreek Hill may have been hesitant to compare the two quarterbacks, but let’s look at their stats starting from 2020 (since Tua joined the league that year).

Coming back to Tyreek Hill’s camp at Monroe High School. Shortly after his Q&A with the students, they took to the gridiron. Engaging in one-on-one sessions that any kid who aspires to become a football player would only dream of, the wide receiver offered hands-on instructions to each of them, especially focusing on mechanics and speed training. With those one-on-one sessions came battles, and while Hill won most of them, he didn’t win all. And one of those plays must’ve resulted in the student he was training creating a core memory.

The camper beautifully caught a snap and did a few quick side-to-side shuffles while facing Hill, which finally led to one that wrong-footed the professional player enough to make him fall. And the camper took off, running toward the end zone. Although Hill got up and recovered, he wasn’t fast enough to stop the camper from scoring a touchdown. Hill was convinced he forced the fumble, but the kid was convinced otherwise. And the best part was they even strode up to Hill and trolled him. Interestingly, something very similar happened at one of Tyreek Hill’s camps last month.

It started when Hill pulled away from a pre-snap handshake, and that was enough for the camper to want revenge. They caught the snap and used their speed and quick movements to leave Hill behind. Much like what happened this week, a sharp cut made the wide receiver fall and allowed the kid to run away for the touchdown.

Needless to say, besides doing what he set out to do with these youth camps – imparting his expertise to young campers to help football’s growth – he’s also helping them make memories that last a lifetime. But what’s interesting to note is that his latest camp in Rochester was on (almost) enemy territory. Just a few miles from Buffalo, New York, his camp was quite close to his ex-team’s rival team, the Buffalo Bills. But even as an individual player, he is one of the Bills’ fiercest rivals.

Tyreek Hill is in the wrong place

Firstly, Hill’s obvious problem with Buffalo stems from the wide receiver’s time in Kansas City. Quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen have an infamous rivalry, and Hill was 1-2 against the Bills during his KC tenure. The Chiefs won an October 2020 game where the ‘Cheetah’ had 20 receiving yards over 3 targets. Unfortunately, he didn’t score in that game.

Also, in last season’s playoffs, the Buffalo Bills were the team to eliminate the Dolphins in the wild-card round. In the 34-31 loss, Hill recorded 69 yards over 7 receptions and didn’t score. A fun fact: The ‘Cheetah’ hasn’t surpassed 100 receiving yards vs the Bills and is 1-3 against the Buffalo team in his Dolphins career.

Overall, Hill is 2-5 against the Bills so far. The WR is definitely planning to take his revenge when he faces the Bills again. And since he made the switch to the Miami team in 2022, putting him in the same division as the Bills, the Buffalo team has had to compete against the quick-footed wide receiver twice every season. Although Hill’s record against the Bills says otherwise, he’s a player they don’t particularly look forward to facing.

That said, Tyreek Hill could potentially level the score this season. Were you surprised to see the wide receiver head to Rochester, New York, for his youth camp this past week?
