Cam Newton says Mahomes is the best—Do you agree, or is there someone better?

Tyreek  Hill shines as the NFL’s top player! Miami Dolphins WR made history by becoming the first wide receiver to be ranked #1 in the NFL Top 100 Players. With this feat, he has stunned many of his fans, colleagues, and past NFL players. Since the NFL rankings were released, ex-NFL players have been quite active, sharing their thoughts on the positioning of players.

In this regard, Cameron Newton, former Panthers QB, expressed his approval of the players’ rankings in the NFL Top 100 Players list. During the “4 and 1” show, when Cam Newton was asked if he thought Tyreek being named No. 1 was offensive to anyone, Newton promptly replied by praising Miami Dolphins WR Hill. He stated that the Super Bowl-winning NFL wide receiver is a formidable and fastest player in the NFL, requiring not one, but two players to keep an eye on him.

The “4th and 1” official page also posted a short clip on its X handle, featuring Cameron Newton’s justification for Hill’s top ranking. The post caption read, “Tyreek Hill was voted the #1 player in the NFL by his peers, and @CameronNewton agrees. But there’s one person who should be the MOST grateful for @cheetah.”

When the host asked, “Should anybody feel disrespected?” Cam responded, saying, “Nah, that’s a solid list right there. Tyreek Hill is the most dangerous man in the NFL.” He went on to emphasize Hill’s dominating nature, suggesting that his teammate WR Jaylen Waddle should be especially grateful for him.

“The person who should be so grateful for Tyreek Hill is Jaylen Waddle. You cannot cover a man like Tyreek Hill with one person, so therefore he’s going to take two people. And when I say doubling a person, it doesn’t necessarily always mean two people are solely dedicated to one person. It’s more or less saying we’re clouding the coverage towards him,” Newton remarked.

Apart from that, Newton continued, “Now, with a stronger run game, you have to bring a guy into the box. You know they ain’t got enough people to contend with the run, right, to stop Tyreek Hill. So, you know it’s only gonna be one person that’s gonna be on me, Jaylen Waddle. You know you’re going to have one-on-one. It’s almost like Joel Embiid playing like Shaquille O’Neal.” And, many people have come forward to praise Tyreek Hill’s phenomenal capabilities.

Hill rose to the top of the rankings after a sensational season in which he led the league with his impressive stats. He secured 1,799 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns, but his late-season ankle injury constrained his opportunity from making history.

Following Dolphins’s  Hill, Lamar Jackson, the Ravens QB, secured the second-ranking, while Christian McCaffrey, the 49ers RB, claimed the third spot. Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs QB, was ranked fourth, Myles Garrett, the Browns DE, took fifth place, Chris Jones, the Chiefs DE, earned sixth place, Trent Williams, the 49ers OT, was ranked seventh, T.J. Watt, the Steelers OLB, secured the eighth spot, Travis Kelce, the Chiefs TE, received ninth place, and Maxx Crosby, the Raiders DE, was ranked tenth in the NFL Top 100 Players list.

This isn’t the first time Cheetah was applauded for his amazing speed and abilities. Earlier, when EA Sports declared Tyreek Hill as a 99 club member for WR in the Madden25 rating, Newton agreed with Madden’s assessment of Hill’s rating. Another Former QB also came forth to appreciate the Dolphins WR.

During “4 & 1 With Cam Newton,” Cam questioned Hill’s rating, stating, “The only reason why Tyreek Hill is a 99 is because of speed. Duh.” Not only this, ex-NFL QB also gave a solid reason about Hill and Justin Jefferson, the Minnesota Vikings WR’s ratings. They both were widely viewed as the NFL’s top best 2 WRs.

“This is different elements, you gotta be mindful of that. Most skillful receiver in NFL? No. The most dangerous receiver in the NFL? Yes. … Justin Jefferson is skillful. He could do everything. … The only reason Tyreek is the most dangerous receiver that this game pretty much, no, I can’t say that, won’t say that,” he asserted.

Amidst this, former QB Tim Hasselbeck also published his views on the NFL’s top player. “I think it’s certainly surprising. People know it’s a quarterback league,” Tim spoke about the NFL rankings on the ESPN show. He spoke about Tyreek Hill’s top spot, as he reflected on his ability to be a menace to both defense and offense, especially during the Dolphins’ 70-20 win over the Broncos in 2023. It was at this time Hill made a season-high speed of 22.07 mph while making a 15-yard catch.

It’s widely recognized that speed is the name of Cheetah’s game, and the Dolphins relied on his skill set to perfection in 2023 with an astonishing metric that perfectly represents his spectacular season. According to Next Gen Stats, Hill received 602 yards on rapid throws with less than 2.5 seconds of 10 or more air yards, which was 308 yards more than the next pass catcher. Tyreek Hill’s unmatched capabilities have indeed helped him climb the 2024 rankings.
