The Miami Dolphins didn’t waste time in hiring a new quarterback to counter Tua Tagovailoa’s tragic absence. Enter Tyler Huntley: the Dolphins’ new backup QB who is supposed to take advantage of the fastest offense in the league. He is as excited to join the Miami team as they are to fill their roster to stay in contention this season.

Huntley, who will be sitting behind Skylar Thompson, addressed the media at the time of his joining and left them impressed with his nickname, “Snoop.” However, that wasn’t the most interesting part of the conversation. The reporters asked him what it would be like playing with receivers like Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle and his answer will put a smile on your face.

“It’s kind of like playing Madden. You got a lot of weapons out there. You just got to go out there and play ball,” Huntley said in a recent presser, praising the speedsters Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Before Huntley joined the Dolphins, the team only had one backup QB, Skylar Thompson. Well, after Tua’s concussion, they need a backup to their backup QB.

As a journeyman QB, Huntley bounced from the Ravens to the Browns and now, he signed a 1-year $1.25 million contract with the Miami team and is happy to play there. Perhaps, playing real-life Madden isn’t a far cry for Tyler Huntley anymore.

Miami threw a lifeline to the QB, and he intends to make the best out of it. “Just being in a great place like this, everything is new to me. I used to see the facility in Davie, so the facility being right next to the Hard Rock, practicing and seeing Hard Rock right there, it’s an amazing sight. So, it’s a breath of fresh air and getting ready to work.”

Building up to the draft, it was Huntley’s dream to play for the Dolphins and he finally got his wish now. However, the circumstances are less than ideal.

So, how did it lead to this journeyman quarterback joining the team? Luckily for him, Miami dialed his number and asked if he wanted to support Skylar Thompson this season. His answer was unequivocally positive. In fact, that was the only thing on his mind ever since his release from the Browns.

“I was thinking about it a lot. I was really thinking about it coming out of the draft and I was hoping Miami would have come and got me. But you know, God’s plan and we’re here now,” Huntley expressed.

Since Tua is on IR for at least four games, the Miami Dolphins have no choice but to make do. Tagovailoa’s return is still a mystery because it’s up to the doctors to rule him fit for playing. A team doctor and a neurotrauma consultant have to give him a green light before he resumes any football activity.
