Does Dak Prescott's praise for Ezekiel Elliott prove he's the true heart of the Cowboys?

Dak Prescott once said that his friendship with Ezekiel Elliot “goes “well beyond” the football field.” And this can be seen till today! The two have played in over 75 games alongside one another since 2016. It all began with their draft year, when the two complemented each other in their games. And the evident for this is definitely the Prescott’s confidence in Elliot, as once he said, “That’s a brother well beyond this football field; I know he’s going to help that team. Talk about being a great teammate, a professional, there’s not many better than Zeke that I’ve seen in my time.” However, that’s not all! As the QB mentioned their bond goes beyond football, it’s quiet interesting to find out how!

So, actually there was a moment when Zeke didn’t have his driving license. This resulted in Prescott coming in the picture, and helping his buddy to spend more time with him while driving. Talking about the same, the QB accepted that “He didn’t have a license at the time or a car so I think that kind of forced our relationship to grow….We learned the offense together, spent time together.” Hence, in this way, their friendship blossomed over the years. However, it took a toil when Elliot was released by the Dallas Cowboys last season. And as obvious, it was difficult for the two to part ways. But as Prescott said, “it was just business,” he made sure that the bond will remain forever. And now that, Elliot is back with the team & Prescott, as well as, the QB got what he wanted from Jerry Jones, he made sure to tell about this his bestie, Elliot.

The first one to come in mind of Dak Prescott was Ezekiel Elliot!

Dak Prescott signed a four-year, $240 million contract extension ahead of Sunday’s regular-season opener against the Cleveland Browns. This deal made Prescott the current highest paid player in NFL history. Now, soon after getting the new deal, Prescott shared a heartwarming incident that has surely grabbed the eyeballs from the NFL world. He said, via Dallas reporter Calvin Watkins, “….the first person he [Prescott] hugged after agreeing to the new contract was Zeke Elliott. He said Zeke took care of him financially when they were rookies. Zeke would pay for dinners and stuff.” Hearing this emotional incident, one could easily tell that there is a strong bond between the two players, not only on-field but off-field too! Probably, that’s why Elliot admitted “It feels great to be home,” when he was offered by the American team.

This year, Jones brought in his team’s former star, running back Ezekiel Elliott on a one-year deal. With this move, he “reunited with the likes of Prescott and his former teammates after spending six years in Dallas.” Both of these players have racked up 13 regular season wins, with Elliot “carrying 1,626 for 7,263 yards, scoring 76 touchdowns in 87 games,” with the quarterback.

And now that owner Jerry Jones has gifted Prescott his close friend Elliot, these two, who embark on their nine NFL seasons, are the senior members of Dallas’ locker room. Furthermore, Prescott’s other valuable gift, the deal for four-years, has added cherry to the top for the QB. So, now with this deal, the Cowboys legacy seems to be getting back on line, as they have already started their 2024 season with a win.

Meanwhile, Dak Prescott isn’t the one who received a big gift from Jerry Jones. After his contract, his teammates too, are expecting some expensive gifts from the quarterback.

Dak Prescott just signed a record-breaking four-year, $240 million contract, and his teammates are taking notice of it. After the Cowboys’ win over the Browns, Prescott, while talking to the media, joked that his teammates have been hinting they expect gifts. He expressed, “They’re expecting Rolexes. … Everybody’s giving me their wrist size.

That’s hilarious, but it also reveals how much these teammates love Prescott to be back with the team. However, it isn’t sure whether he would give them Rolexes or not, the victory in the Week 1 game has definitely been a gift for Jerry Jones, the Cowboys squad and their fans.

During that matchup, Prescott played impressively by “completing 19 of 32 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown, with no interceptions.” His star receiver, CeeDee Lamb too, who recently signed his own $136 million deal, returned to action, grabbing “five passes for 61 yards.” Therefore, their combined action, along with their team’s efforts, the Cowboys got a huge win 33-17 on Sunday.

Nevertheless, with “a combined value of $376 million, Prescott and Lamb are now the most expensive quarterback-receiver duo in NFL history.” So, this means the pressure is on for them, including Ezekiel Elliott, as everyone will be asking them to deliver bigger performances in the season further.
