Four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers isn’t someone whom you would witness throwing interceptions every week. But even the best QBs have their worst days when nothing goes right. Well, one of those days came during week 5’s encounter against the Vikings in London. Jets, who had won 2 and lost 2 up until the Vikings clash, fell to their 3rd defeat of the season. As Rodgers threw his fifth career pick-six in the NFL.
In a career that spans two decades, Rodgers had a day to forget as Vikings LB Andrew Van Ginkel latched on to his pass. And that wasn’t all. He carried it for 63 yards before scoring a sensational TD. Thereby giving the Vikings a 10-0 lead within the first quarter. Well, this may have left Rodgers feeling a bit salty, as he gave a 3-word reply to Ginkel’s pick-6 after the game.
And revealing that message on the Up & Adams show, the Vikings LB expressed, “Christmas came early.” Although Rodgers didn’t appreciate Ginkel for his reading of the pass, the 29-year-old was rather happy to accept the Christmas gift early. “Hey, whenever Christmas is, it can be anytime throughout the year. I’ll take the gift.”

For the Vikings LB, it wasn’t the first time he had scored an interception. With that Rodgers pick-six, Ginkel now has four interceptions in his career. While three of those made their way to the endzone. Even in week 1, he did the same against Giants QB Daniel Jones. After intercepting his pass, Ginkel took it for 10 yards before scoring a TD. Including the pick-6, the Jets QB threw three interceptions, which he hadn’t done before in his 20-year career.
And the last pick-6 he had in the NFL was in 2022 when he was still a Packers QB. Trying to throw a pass into Allen Lazard’s way, then-Packers QB was intercepted by Patriots CB Jack Jones. Well, then-rookie Jones didn’t just intercept but also scored a mammoth 40-yard pick-6 that gave Rodgers his fourth in the NFL. Although those were still early days of the season, the Jets QB has now found himself battling darkness amid the continued failure with green and white.

Jets succumb to their fifth straight loss as Aaron Rodgers finds himself in darkness
What’s your perspective on:
Is Aaron Rodgers' magic fading, or can he still lead the Jets out of darkness?
Have an interesting take?
Traveling to New England, the Jets were hoping they could finally get back in the winning column. Taking on a team that had lost 6 games in a row, Rodgers had the golden opportunity to bring back some momentum into their season. However, it wasn’t meant to be as the Jets lost to a rebuilding Patriots, who didn’t even finish their game with starting QB Drake Maye. Yes, even after Maye’s early exit due to a concussion, Rodgers could help his team snap their losing streak.
And after the game, when the Jets interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said they are in ‘darkness.’ Rodgers resonated with that feeling, “I’ve been in the darkness.” Well, the Jets are truly in darkness, and only a win can help them come out into the light. However, the Jets aren’t helping themselves as Rodgers said, “Well, we’re not playing complementary football. We haven’t put it together really since the last time we won a game where all three phases played really well. Same thing today.”

Surprisingly, the last time Rodgers led his team to a victory was against the Patriots in week 3, 24-3. But now, after five weeks, they have found themselves in a slum, struggling to get out. Is it too late for the Jets to turn their season around? Or is there a Rodgers show waiting for us around the horizon? Well, we shall find out soon as the Jets continue to fumble wins week in and week out.
